INTRODUCTION The pomegranate’s medicinal qualities have been known for thousands of years (Rustaiyan, 2013). pomegranate is now widely cultivated in the Mediterranean, tropical and subtropical areas. Botanically, the Punica granatum L. (P. granatum L.) belong to the family of Punicaceae with 2n = 16 or 18 chromosomes. The genus punica is known to include two species P. protopunica and P. granatum (Mars, 2000). In Iraq, pomegranate is produced in Diyala, Karbla, Hillah, Kirkuk, Sulaymania and Duhok governorates. However, bulk of the production reportedly comes from Sharaban (Diyala) and Halabjah (Sulaimanyah). According to the Iraq Agricultural Statistics Yearbook 2005, Iraq produced 117,000 MT of pomegranate on an area of 30,000 ha. Thus, optimum dietary intake of these phytochemicals is essential for maintaining ideal health. Organic acids are a useful index of fruit product authenticity (Kader , 2008) . The main objective of the present study was to identify and quantity of some phytochmicals content in Local pomegranate molasses by using GC mass technique and comparing with commercial pomegranate molasses. Materials and Methods Materials: : Pomegranate fruit samples: Pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) fruits were obtained from Halabja and Hawraman Farms in North of Iraq (kurdistan region) during season 2014. Pomegranate fruit samples: Pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) fruits were obtained from Halabja , ( LPM1 ) and Hawraman (LPM 2) Farms in North of Iraq (kurdistan region) during season 2014, and three type of commercial are sample 3 ( CPM1 ),sample 4 ( CPM2 ) and sample 5 ( CPM3 ) .
