What is heritage? Heritage is something of importance that can be passed down and shared with a new generation. For millions of Americans hunting isn’t just a sport or a pass time, it is a heritage. It is something that has been passed down through generations since the beginning of time. Hunting not only brings families closer together, it also brings strangers together in a way that nothing else can do. For me, hunting is the ultimate heritage.
Ever since I could walk, my younger brother and I have loved discovering outdoors and would rather be there than anywhere else. As we got older, our grandpa and dad began to take us hunting and after that first turkey hunt, we were hooked. The thrill of the hunt, the smell of gunpowder, the bonding of family and the contribution of food to the table made our hunting experience, unlike any other experience we had ever had before. Whenever that long beard comes over the hill or that monster buck steps out of the shadows, the hunter feels a rush that he or she can’t get from anything else.
