How the Bachelorette Changed My Body Image

Who has not seen the advertisements for the Bachelorette, twenty five or so men chosen from around the country try to win the hand of one woman. In reality no one woman has twenty five men competing for her hand in marriage, every woman cannot simply just pick the man of her dreams from a group. Also this makes a point that the man should make little to no mistakes to be with because in the bachelorette mistakes usually lead to the man sent home. The Bachelorette ruins expectations because it gives women the idea that the man should have, a fit body, amazing personality, be perfect at all times, and be everything that she wants or she should send him away, when in reality no one can be this perfect.
To start, my experience with the Bachelorette is that I have been forced to watch it through past relationships and also having a mother and two sisters. Thus I have a vast experience with the television show. As I have stated every season starts with approximately twenty five men trying to convince one woman, that they are the man for her. These twenty five men usually have successful professions some wildly and others just moderately, also all of these men are in peak physical condition. The Bachelorette may not be able to be considered as the real world, because these men are chosen to compete for her love. In life do we get to choose who get to compete for our love, unfortunately, no? So does this show give off unrealistic ideas of the dating world for women? In the real world to find one man that is like this would take some patience, time, and filtering. But the Bachelorette shows it that this man just willingly come by the mas and compete for you love. Even though most women do not convert this to their everyday life it still extorts what they expect from a man and maybe even what they want in a man. Causing very high expectations of all guys, now having expectations are not bad things do not get me wrong, but having expectations that are too high can’t get you or others hurt.
