How Writing Has Influenced My Life

Have you ever had someone or something be influential in your life? We do, although sometimes we don’t notice it. For example, we all have that role model we want to be like as a person, but we also have someone or something to help us with our writing. Throughout my life I’ve had many influential people and memories to help me with my writing and reading, like autocorrect or a teacher, although I hadn’t realized it untill now. After struggling with reading when I was younger, I have had many impacts in my life to shape me into the reader and the writer I am today.
As I think back to when I was a little kid, the first thing I can think of is all the Dr. Seuss books that were read to me. Whether it had been at school in our class reading group or at home while I was tucked all snug in my bed for a bedtime story. Some nights I would get some of the wackiest dreams. One big event of my Dr. Suess stage was Dr. Seuss Day in kindergarten. On this day we would read a bunch of Dr. Seuss books. When they say day, they mean day. I was able to start noticing adjectives, nouns, and verbs as I read books. There were two teachers that I had really stuck out to me. Mrs. Bucholtz and Miss. Levon influenced me and made reading fun. They allowed me to have a new respect for different types of writing, especially poetry. They got me to look at the bigger picture in poetry. We would spend a class period tearing apart one or two poems. By doing this it showed that instead of just words on paper, every line, word, and stanza has a meaning to it. Not only did they do that, but they made it fun. We could always count on them to have some memory trick to remember root words, or have a song or rap for figurative language. Most importantly, they showed us what made reading worth it, like the unexpected plot twist or
