While waiting for my bus to warm up this morning, I took the time to check the news, check google calendar for any appointments, shared a flyer for my business advertising a spa party, sent my husband a good morning text, sent my oldest son a text reminding him to ensure the dogs are let out before he leaves. However, I accomplished this in 15 minutes’, have you ever sat back and thought how life would be different, less the internet, how time consuming tasks would be minus, internet? In essence, the school system should still require teachers to teach the former techniques as well as modern techniques. In the article Zaryn says “The Internet has turned our existence upside down. It has revolutionized communications, to the extent that it is now our preferred medium of everyday communication. In almost everything we do, we use the Internet.” (Dentzel, 2016, para 1). Before the internet ordering a pizza was only a two-step process, you would turn to the restaurant section of the phone book and look for the name of the pizza place, then pick up your phone and dial the number. Now in modern times it takes about four steps to look up the number to the pizza place. First you will pull up the web browser on your phone, then you type in the name of the place you’re looking for, next, you search through the options given until you find the right one and last but, not least, dial the number. With the convenience of the internet not everything is faster or better. However, research and school is two things that are faster and easier. In the old days, we had to go to the library and look through book after book, once you found the ones you wanted you would have to flip from page to page to gather all the information needed. In modern times, we have the wonderful google and Wikipedia to assist you with your research. With the ease of a few keystrokes you can have more information then what you need, if there are specific things you’d like to know all you had to do is type it in and the answer will pop up. In the beginning, not everyone was happy or accepting of the internet. with good reason. Consequently, over time everything we do is through the internet, all our personal information is stored in databases that can be hacked over time.
