Behind The Scenes What happens behind the scenes of movies is something that never occurs to the audience. Tim Burton is one of the most creative writers of our time. His stories portray a dark theme that shows the light of it and how dark stories can have some beauty behind it. His style is influenced by his love for fairy tales and children’s stories. Burton’s stories give us a look of a dark, melancholy feel and also teaches us lessons and morals of life. Tim Burton uses cinematic techniques of shots and frames, camera movement, and lighting to achieve various desired effects of the movies, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and “Edward Scissorhands.” Shots and frames shows the characterization of how the characters felt as they faced something new on their own journey’s. For instance, the five winners wait with their parents or grandparents, as Willy Wonka allows them to come in at precisely ten o’clock. Everyone is filled with anticipation as they wait to see Willy Wonka for the first time in 20 years. The long shot of the factory shows impatience as they await for Willy Wonka to welcome them into the factory. The lighting puts endearment to the faces of the winners and the winners are excited to roam around the chocolate factory. In addition, there is another example of high key lighting when Edward goes on the talk show. The high key lighting shows a timid, quiet Edward who is unique and different from everyone else.
