Then and Now; The Influence of Renaissance Art, Medicine,and Rulers on our Modern Day Davinci, the Black Death, Matthias, they all have shaped life in one way or another. The Renaissance is one of the most unique and rich periods of time in our world history. From about 1300 to 1600 the doctors had a modern, yet old school knowledge of medicine and illnesses. The artist of this time helped shape our culture today and give us a great understanding of the time period. The Rulers of this time were some of the most influential in developing the renaissance. They created many important paintings and sculptures that give us a great insight into the renaissance era. One of the biggest influences that helped spread a new form of christianity into the world was the printing press. William Caxton made the first printing press in England, he helped Martin Luther print and distribute his Lutheran Bibles in England (Emmons). Another early Renaissance inovatore was Dellanto, he painted the ceiling of the Florence Cathedral (Haber). Dellanto was a huge part of the renaissance spreading to France. Another person who had large influence on the French Renaissance was John of Luxemburg. John was king of Bohemia and although he wasn't an artist, he helped bring a lot of art and culture to France during the renaissance (John of Luxemburg). Religion was very big part of people's live during the renaissance so many of the famous paintings were of religious content. Piero della Francesca painted the Resurrection, which depicts Jesus rising from the grave, and the Chapel of Relics (Piero della Francesca). Francesca was a Catholic which influenced his art and made him one of the more popular artists of the time. Possibly the most famous and well known artist in our world history was Leonardo Da Vinci. In the Renaissance and surrounding time periods there were very stranges rules and ways for people to come into leadership of a nation or kingdom. An example of a strange way for someone to come into leadership, or rather get kicked out of leadership was Charles the VIII. Early in life Charles the VIII was going to be king of France, but because of his frail body structure, delayed development, and difficult puberty, he was dominated by his older sister and her husband (Charles the VIII). This among other reasons kept him from ever taking the throne. After not being able to become king, he refused to marry Margaret of Austria and lost the ability to be in the artios, and wasn’t able to Franche-Comte (Charles the VIII). The strange rules of marriage and politics kept Charles and many other men and women from becoming leaders of their nations. In the renaissance many new forms of came along, and with those forms of art came along the art of a standing army. The first use of a standing army was in 1460 and fought under the rule of king Matthias of Hungary (Matthias I). In the middle of the renaissance England was charged with lawlessness and disorder. King edward IV was crowned king in 1461 and reduced the dismay and law breakers. He also brought back the diminishing royal authority (Edward IV).
