What Did People Learn About The Renaissance?

“The Renaissance is studded by the names of the artists and architects, with their creations recorded as great historical events.” - (Arthur Erickson). During the Renaissance many interesting events happened, many occupations emerged, and many historical events would be set in place. Even though the Renaissance did have it's disadvantages such as the Bubonic plague and struggling to get by due to failing crops and no purified water, people should take the time to learn about the Renaissance because it helped strengthened our religion and background information on literature and other subjects, It allowed to evolve in the ways we do things, and it was a very important time and without it we might not be where we are today.

There was a lot of poverty during the Renaissance time and people could use any job they could possibly find. First, one of the jobs that evolved was the start of banks. At this time banks only consisted of notebooks, piles of coins, and sets of scales to weigh them out. (McNeill People 7-9). Certain bankers became pawnbrokers while others became money changers, exchanging foreign coins into local money for pilgrims and merchants visiting other countries. (McNeill People 7-9). Despite all of the good banks were doing at the time they gained a lot of criticism saying that is was a sin to lend someone money and then make the borrower pay interest, but one person by the name of John Calvin argued with these opinions saying that it gave money a great use. Most people ignored these arguments and continued borrowing money, including kings. Kings borrowed large sums of money for their wars. (McNeill People 7-9). Second, Artists had to use their skills to make money. They began to take orders just like a craftsman would. Sometimes if the artists was skilled enough they would have more than one commission at one time. When this would happen they began hiring apprentices to do small tasks for them so they could focus all of their time on fulfilling their orders. Apprentices did simple tasks such as mixing the paint and bringing the artists new canvases. (McNeill 10-12). During the middle ages travel was one of the most dangerous things. Only a select few of the ships could actually manage long journeys without being torn to pieces by the rough seas. (McNeill People 13-15). At the time exploration was used to make money for countries. They searched for the water route that will lead them to the Spice Islands in the Pacific.
