1) I met with Mr. Willie James Prescott at The Harlem Hospital Center – Harlem Rehabilitation – Community Support Systems Program in 506 Lenox Avenue, New York, New York on Thursday, February 16. He has been the Director of the Harlem Hospital Center, Community Support System services program an affiliate of the Department of Psychiatry outpatient services for twenty years and was previously a Clinical Coordinator with the department. We met in his office on the 3rd floor of The Women’s Pavilion Building.
2) Mr. Prescott said that he received his degree in psychology with a minor in education from Columbia College in 1973. He then worked at Louis D. Brandeis High School as a history teacher for two years. Though he said he enjoyed his first job, nonetheless; he was interested in …show more content…

Prescott dislikes are recognizing when clients decompensate and reminding them to recognize their decompensation. When clients don’t adhere to the rules and regulations of the program, Mr. Prescott have to facilitate their transition into an inpatient facility. Observing situations where clients might attack each other or staff member, intervention is required to deescalate incidents. Lastly, when special meetings are called to relay the passing of clients or staff member since there’s a family atmosphere where everybody bonds together.
7) If Mr. Prescott could have an unlimited budget, the kinds of programs he would like for his agency are pet therapy, arts & crafts, weekend trips, and full breakfast and lunch meals.
8) Mr. Prescott describes himself as a benevolent dictator who chooses not to micromanage. In addition, he empowers his staff and trusts them to do their job. However; he reserves the right to make suggestions and recommendations that are seriously considered.
9) Mr. Prescott feels subordinates would describe him as warm, pleasant, fair, and understanding. In addition, he’s willing to listen and have an open door
