Glory. We, as the people, strive the find this “holy grail”. Glory is something that all people want, but it must come with time. One must challenge their limits if they want to achieve their goal, even if it might seem tough. They also learn to grow up, which is important for one to do, physically and mentally.. Finally, they also faith. Faith that things will go the way to plan, faith that nothing will get messed up. To truly achieve glory, one must dream of success, are willing to grow up, and have faith through the long journey that we call life. To begin, one must dream of success. According to Ben Carson’s quote from his book Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story, he states “...if you look at these obstacles as a containing fence, they become your excuse for failure. If you look at them as a hurdle, each one strengthens you for the next.” Carson looks at the positives of these challenges. He views them as hurdles that we must overcome to continue on with our life with. For example, if one has an upcoming math test that they are scared for, one can study for the test to lessen the fear and overcome that obstacle in the way. Challenges are important, as well. If someone is not faced with any challenges to overcome, than there would nothing to achieve. …show more content…

In “If” by Rudyard Kipling, the poem explains things that a boy must do to be a man. For example, one of the stanzas in the poem is, “If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies, Or, being hated, don't give way to hating, And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;”. These are a few examples that the poet portrays as growing up. As each line of the poem goes on, it may make one believe that it is an older, wiser person, talking to a younger, “not-as-wise” boy.
