Various Diseases found World Wide & Locally

The Geography of disease is a fascinating topic to learn about simply because the possibilities of researching various diseases world wide and locally are endless. Each disease is unique in its own way and they greatly impact citizens both positivey and negatively. As a group, we researched upon multiple diseases including: Cholera, Rubella, Asthma, Lyme Disease, Avian Flu (also referred to as Bird's Flu), Hantavirus and three forms of Hepatitis (A,B,C).

When conducting our research, we came across several findings. We strongly believe that there are numerous factors which contribute towards the geography of disease. We learned that this disease is dangerous for a woman in her early pregnancy stage. If a woman catches rubella, then her child has the potential of being diagnoses with CRS which is known as, “Congenital Rubella Syndrome.” Depending on the situation some women may face a miscarriage. Symptoms of CRS include: cataracts and deafness. In terms of prevention, a rubelle vaccine is available and a single dose is 95% effective.

The third disease we touched up was Asthma. Asthma is considered to be a chronic inflammatory disease which causes the lungs to experiene high sensitivity, In addition, people who encounter this disease have a great trouble breathing regularly on a daily basis. This disease is not curable, but it is controllable in a sense because people are able to use an inhaler to support themselves in emergency situations.
