Effects of pollution Around 40 percent deaths worldwide are caused by pollution, according to Lang (2007) “Water, air and soil pollution causes 40 percent of deaths worldwide, Cornell research survey finds” Polluting causes disturbance to the ecosystem, which affects the normal lifestyle. Pollution appears when toxins infect the natural surroundings of the environment. Different forms of pollution are air, water, soil, radioactive, noise, heat, and light. Environment degradation, human health, and global warming are three main effects of pollution.

The destruction of human health may be caused by air, water, and noise pollution. Breathing in polluted areas may lead to the increase of asthma, lung cancer, and irritation of the eyes, mouth, and throat. Smoking also causes pollution, which results in the disturbance of human health. In other words, when a person lights a cigarette, not only does he/she cause air pollution; but also harms the person’s health and the people around him/her. Consequently, people around the smoker may start coughing or have a hard time breathing due to the smoke around them. Likewise, smoke released from factories, and the burning of wood or vehicles, release chemicals that are also effective to a person who is breathing that air. Thus, the chemicals can cause headaches and dizziness due to the harmful chemicals around the person. When water is polluted, it may pose skin related damages like rashes and skin irritations. For example, when a person swims in polluted water they might get infected due to the dirty water, he/she might open their eyes underwater, for it would cause pink eye. Noise pollution is another effect on human health; it may lead to sleep disturbance, hearing loss, and psychological problems. For example, when loud music is playing next door or loud vehicles are passing by while a person is trying to sleep, it will disturb their sleep, which may cause stress.
