Most people feel anxiety, it is a normal feeling we get. It may be caused by a big test coming up, a presentation, or maybe a date with a cute girl is causing anxiety. These are all reasons one may feel anxiety. Some people may even feel anxiety over things that may seem silly like ordering food or constantly worrying about “what if this happens.” When anxiety is constant for reasons sometimes not know and at times completely takes over, that when anxiety becomes a real problem. General Anxiety Disorder (GAD) is a mental health disease that is characterized by excessive worry about everyday events. Inhibition, negative activity even harm can are linked to GAD. Like many disorders anxiety may be passed on by the parents (APA 2013). Personality also plays a role in developing GAD, people who are timid are more likely to have it. Another factor is experiences, people who have had a traumatic event in their lives can, as a result, develop GAD. Females tend to have GAD slightly more often than men. People with this disorder will have the same symptoms; however males may have substance disorders, while females tend to have other anxiety disorders or disorders similar to bipolar depression (APA 2013). To be diagnosed typically a doctor or metal health professional will do a variety of tests. A physical exam may be preformed to see if there are any signs that the anxiety is linked to medications or other medical conditions are present. She felt like it did. She said that she had lost relationships due to it, a few times someone told her that it was why the relationship ended. It makes her feel like she has to try harder and harder to keep what she has but sometimes she may go to far. They excessiveness can make people uncomfortable. Because of the problems she has had in the past with this it makes her feel anxious about her friends and her relationships she has now (Anonymous). The last question I asked was what happens when she gets anxiety? When experiencing anxiety her palms get sweaty, she feels sick to her stomach, migraines, and gets into a bad mood. She described it as if she was digging into a hole deeper and deeper but trying to pull herself out but could not do it. The anxiety always wins, sometimes to the point where she breaks down, starts crying and even hyperventilating (Anonymous). With these basic questions I had gained an understanding of what she goes though almost daily because of her anxiety. Before the interview I had not knowing what really went through her mind I thought it was something that was not as severe as it really is. Anxiety is something that can really impact the way impact the way she functions almost daily.
