It’s not to anyone’s surprise that obtaining a degree is the “American Dream”. As a child one hears what college will be like, how hard one has to work, the fun one has and how important it is to get good grades. All students have experienced college talk every year in high school. Whether or not one goes to college, it is a decision made after high school and can be the most important in one's life. Almost every year parents will their children to go to a four year college and earn their master’s or doctorate’s degree. There is nothing wrong with a little fun after a mid-term exam or after binge studying. Besides all the school work there are plenty of things to do, see and people to meet. Students know that they will find new friends along the way that will bring new adventures and experiences in life. It is true that a lot of the time one loses friends they thought they’d have forever and meet new ones. Many times this happens in school and in life. Meeting new people is almost essential when in school. This is because schools are so diverse one never knows who they’re going to meet and make connections with. The best part is people from all around the world attend different universities seeking for opportunity. Many are introduced to new acquaintances through parties, study groups, fraternities, and lectures. Take it from someone who isn’t even into their half of a semester in college and have met amazing students from different countries that came to achieve the same goals. With meeting new people one can be introduced to brand new culture. It’s unique to see how one connects with someone that has came from halfway around the world. Going through different social groups many get to see new places and try new things. That’s where some favorite memories are made. Having the same experience some where else is hard to come by. There are countries that an education is not even an option but yet many take education for granted and don’t appreciate everything that comes with it. There are places like Nigeria, Sudan, and the Dominican Republic that education is hard to come by. The students that happen to attend school do not get the experience that an American student would. Getting an education stimulates health and personal growth. It was once said by Michelle Obama that people better educated live longer. One should take every opportunity to enrich their lives with more knowledge for a healthier lifestyle. Mrs.Obama believes one should be an example of excellence for others and the next generations. There are many that take it for granted so going to school will set an example for ones that would rather not.
