Fear is something very foreign to countless people, not the idea, but the response to it, the way people react to fear. Everyone has their own fears; their own definitions and triggers to these unique varieties of fear. We imagine our worst fears and what would happen if they became a reality. This is where imagination plays a key role in the response to fear. Imagination can overcome one’s ability to reason out an abnormal situation, in which fear kicks in; frequently resulting in the situation becoming worse than the previous extent. Fear is in everyone’s lives, although it doesn’t affect some as much as others due to their response to this fear. Meaning they don’t let their imagination overcome their reason, creating a mindless fear as exhibited throughout our lifetime.
This fear of the unknown is similar to the one shown in Gordon Grice’s essay, “The Black Widow.” In his essay, Grice explains how his fear of black widow made him curious about them. He once feared black widows because most people associated black widows as deadly animals that kill people. However, once Grice said, “I fell, hands first, into a mass of young widows … In about ten minutes my arms carried nothing but old web and the husks of spiderlings eaten by their sibs. I have never been bitten” (47). This revelation for Grice shows that black widows aren’t what he had thought them to be, but in fact mostly harmless to humans. “We want the world to be an ordered room, but in a corner of that room there hangs an untidy web. Here the analytical

Fear affects everyone's life no matter if it is fact or even fiction. When one is fearful of something, that person changes the way of living their life. In one of the first chapters of the book we see that the people of Umuofia are afraid to go outside during the night without moonlight. "Children were warned not to whistle at night for fear of evil spirits."(9) Once that moon, is up it seems that everything should be middling and the people of Umuofia fear of becoming snake dinner escapes their minds. Children have high pitched laughs. What if one of the kids during
There are lots of kinds of threats. Some of us are afraid of different sorts of animals, some are afraid of height, some are afraid of closed vessel, etc. However, the most usual fear is a fear of death. Also this piece of literature is about such a fear and what it can do to human.

I went from fear of flowers to practical mathematics, that’s crazy, but if I were afraid of a number I guess I wouldn’t have to have 19 years of math class. Tetraphobia has “Various unique and specific troubling experiences are to blame for the disorder. Tetraphobia may be the result of superstitious parenting or lack of parenting altogether. Still, like other phobias and psychological disorders, it may be concomitant with bipolar disorder(“Tetraphobia” 2015). I read this and thought about how all the causes seemed to be intriguingly different. People who feared flowers, may have had allergies; or if someone feared cheese, they may have been in a traumatic event. People with Tetraphobia, may have had parent issues that would allow them to fear numbers. But as for the symptoms it’s basically like any fear, these symptoms copy someone who would quiver over flowers perhaps. This last fear made me question the world we live in now that our children can fear something like a
Scared of the dead? You shouldn’t be. Did you know throughout Mexico they celebrate the day of the dead? They call it Dia De Los Muertos. On This holiday, they celebrate the passing of their loved ones. In United States, on October 31 we celebrate Halloween, this day we dress up on our most scariest costume, trick-or-treat for candies, and scare others just for the fun of it. They say it’s the day where the dead rise, maybe that’s why most people are afraid of this day.
Adrenaline invigorates people and feeds the natural human desire for it. The easiest way to supply this craving is by being scared. Halloween is a day revolving around this beast and all wishes for it will be fulfilled, causing my time to be spent at a haunted house. Right before Halloween, my friends, Caroline, Sydney, Amanda, and Abe, decided that being scared was the best way to celebrate the coming of our favorite holiday. Sydney found a place that claimed to be the scariest place in New Jersey. I agreed because I knew that it was only going to be actors wearing makeup who were just trying to startle people. We were told that it would take us around thirty minutes to get through the house, so it would not be too bad if one of

A great majority of society feared the monster under the bed or in the closet. Perhaps they were just afraid of the dark and the weird noises when home alone. Those are common fears that children have growing up. What is fear? Does everyone have fear? Does fear control one’s life? Can fear be controlled? Fear is something everyone experiences in life. Fear is a part of life. According to the Oxford Dictionary, “fear is an unpleasant emotion triggered by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat”. Fear is experienced by everyone, and it is an unavoidable emotion. Fear can be overwhelming, especially if someone contains a phobia that can disrupt the way they live. Fear is such a powerful feeling. It is all around us and is sensed in every corner of the world. Fear is not only negative, but can be positive too, which is related to fears being rational and irrational. Fear is an emotion that has a negative reputation, but in reality positive fear overpowers negative fear.

Nyctophobia or Achluophobia is having an irrational fear of the night or darkness. The name was originated from “the Greek word ‘Nuktos’ which means night or darkness”(Maharjan,”Nyctophobia”).
