What is the definition of disability? 1)Disability is a form of physical or mental impairment to the body and mind that can prevent a person from doing certain things in their life. 2) How does culture disable? In the Video called “Invisible Disabilities film”, talks about how society looks at a person with a disability like there is something wrong with them. The reason why they think that is because people pass judgment on them because of what they do instead of trying to understand why they are acting like that. Most cultures has a norm and when a person has a disability, then others do not understand why they are not normal. The intersections within the people in the video is that they are all adults and wanting to be independent, but have some disabilities that prevent them in some areas of their life to do it on their own. Joey, Nick and Stacy all had parents that were willing to take care of them and help them grow and be independent. Joey, Nick, and Stacy were Caucasian and lived in the middle class or upper class in society. I say that because the parents in the video made sure that their kids were taken care of and helped them in any way they can. From the video, Joey and Nick had a little bit of trouble with the law because the police officers assumed that they were doing something wrong because they went into the bathroom and wasn’t acting normal according to the cops, but the cops did not do anything to them. Now in the article, all the teens that were suspended were in the lower class of society and were judged by their race and gender. They were misunderstood because of the stereotypes the teachers had on African American girls and boys. The teachers didn’t believe in the reason why the child did what they did, instead, they sent them straight to the police officer or to the administrator’s office and suspended them for the action.
