Believe it or not, but according to the Washington Post, seventh graders spend 23.2 hours testing per year! If they fail the test, they cannot move on to the next grade! According to greatschools.com, 26 states require "a high school exit exam or plan to put one in place." I disagree with taking year end tests. Exit tests are not necessary for education. No one should take them because some people do not test well, it wastes time, and you can not judge a student by a test.

Kids should not take year end tests to pass because some students make good grades, but do not test well. Personally, I have smart friends that do bad on tests. "Many intelligent students are frustrated by papers that trot out the same questions in a different garb," according to telegraph.co.uk. People across America disagree with exit exams as well. Having a year end test could prepare you for college. Without any exit exams, you would not be used to constant test prep and tests. Another reason is that your high school tests go on your diploma, and colleges view them. If you pass your test, you will be able to get into any college. If you fail, you can get a tutor to help you when you take the test again. To sum it up, these seem like reasonable supports to keep year end testing.

In conclusion, I believe that students should not have to take an exit exam to pass school. Some kids have good grades, but do not test well. Exit exams take away student's individuality. Year end tests waste time that could be being used to teach students. Even though tests prepare students for the future, most careers do not require many tests. Exit exams are not needed for
