Animal Farm: Common Assessment Rebellion usually starts when a community is against their leader or government. An example of this was in the American Revolution, when the patriots revolted against Britain because they disagreed again but then gained their independence. In the book Animal Farm, by George Orwell, “‘The rebellion starts when they are told how horrible it is from an experienced animal by how they barely even the pigs only food to survive and other problems’”(Orwell 6). This explains why they rebelled since they realized how horrible it was living under Mr. Jones. As a result, they rebelled against him where the animals succeeded. If other people were in the same situation as in Animal Farm, they should start a community rebellion against their leader when there are bad conditions, horrible treatment, and ideas. If you were in this situation and the conditions the leader had the people in our poor, you should start a rebellion. For example, Old Major says, “‘He sets them to work, he gives back to the bare minimum that will prevent them from starving, and the rest he keeps for himself’”(6). This could be a reason to start a rebellion because usually in real life scenarios, such as the Holocaust, the …show more content…
For example, Orwell writes, “When they had finished their confession, the dogs promptly tore their throats out, and in a terrible voice Napoleon demanded whether any other animal had anything to confess”(75). This is a big reason for why a community should rebel if they are getting killed for something very little. We’ve seen similar ideas of this were people getting killed because of their beliefs, For example, the Jews when the holocaust was active every Jew was sent to concentration camps also others they were killed over their beliefs. What this means is that if they are getting killed over small things they should rebel since that is
What do YOU think would be the consequences of always following the rules? In Animal Farm by:George Orwell Boxer always follows the rules and there can good and bad outcomes. For Mollie she can be her true self without being forced to do anything. When it comes to conformity like Boxer you have to always listen and do what you are told by facing the consequences of your actions. But being a nonconformist like Mollie you will never have to face your problems. You can do whatever you want but you are going to get judge by it.
The animals in the book “Animal Farm” hoped to achieve unity, equality. trust/truth, prosperity, better quality of life, freedom and individuality, in terms of the revolution. This was achieved at the beginning of the revolution, which made it a success, but in the end the revolution was a failure.
However, in some occasions there is an ethical duty to rebel against a government, rather than a peaceful protest. The American Revolution is a perfect example, for the reason that Great Britain wanted to take advantage of the colonies by demanding taxes on revenues. The colonist took matter into their own hands when they saw that a peaceful protest did not work. Moreover, even though the British had a huge advantage over the colonies; the colonies did not took that as an excuse. They are several criteria’s that revolution would be justified.
Historical abolitionist Frederick Douglas famously once said “The thing worse than rebellion is the thing that causes rebellion.” Rebellion only happens because a group of individuals is dissatisfied with authority. Without this conflict between society and authority, humanity will not advance. Many conflicts occur frequently, but what is the frequency of individuals rebelling against authority? Some may choose to believe that this conflict is a rare occurrence, while many authors throughout history may believe that rebellion occurs more often than one might think. Rebellions against society can all be refined down to a rebellious action, a reason for rebellion, and a response from authority.
There are times throughout the history of the United States when its citizens have felt the need to revolt against the government. There were such cases during the time of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Henry David Thoreau, when there was unfair discrimination against the Afro-American community and Americans refusing to pay poll taxes to support the Mexican War. They used civil disobedience to eventually get legislation to stop the injustice brought against them and their nation. Civil disobedience is defined as refusal to obey civil laws or decrees, which usually takes the form of passive resistance. People practicing civil disobedience break a law because they consider the law unjust, and want to call attention to its injustice, hoping to bring about its withdrawal.
The representative population of a community is not comfortable when confronted by an individual who defies the laws that bind them. Whether or not the laws or the powers behind them are just, the populace must deal with any challenge to their authority. In some cases, the community, fearful of a powerful regime, will side with that power and avoid the risks associated with rebellion. Others find the tyranny too unjust to stand idly by and, risking their lives, join with other defiant individuals against it.
George Orwell is the author of the novel Animal Farm who wrote the book about an animal rebellion. In this novel there are many characters with different types of personalities. A boar named Napoleon is genuinely a fierce looking boar. I chose Napoleon because he his bossy, he has a flagrant desire for power, and has a frightening look. He acts as if he is the chief of all animals. “The only Berkshire on the farm, not much of a talker, but with a reputation for getting his own way… Quicker in speech and more inventive”. (Orwell 12). This quote is saying that he only cared about himself and pleasing himself. He is very creative and does not have the same essence as other animals. So he normally did not get along with the animals and did not
There are many types of propaganda used in George Orwell’s, Animal Farm. One type of propaganda commonly used is fear, which is used to scare people into accepting a point of view. Old Major’s warning of Jones’ plans for the animals, the threat of Jones returning, and Napoleon having the animals killed for their crimes are all examples of fear propaganda. These examples can relate to the fear propaganda used today in a lot of anti-smoking commercials and posters.
When people see any injustices being done, most people would not speak up. In the novel Animal Farm, by George Orwell, this theory is proven on many different occasions. Even when it is obvious that Napoleon (the leader) is wrong, the animals do not speak up. Some possible reasons for the animals not speaking up could be that the animals were never educated to be critical thinkers and to notice anything. Another reason could be that the animals were scared and intimidated by their leader. Lastly, the animals could not have seen anything wrong since all their life’s they always had one leader that controlled them. The animals in the end of the novel never spoke up due to their fears
In life there are many situations where rebellion is required for change and improvement. Some are simple, like growing up and learning not to do certain things and others are more complex like when a group of people stand up for what they believe, for example, women’s rights and black’s rights. I believe that rebellion is healthy for any growing society. There are many things that we do not agree with, whether it is the law or our parent’s instructions. By rebelling we can change our society and/or ourselves for better.
The book Animal Farm, written by George Orwell, uses the conventions of children’s literature, although it is anything but a children’s book. Children are seen as happy individuals, and should not be exposed to the concepts of the evil side winning. They’re also naive, and often can not differentiate the real world from fiction. The rebellions and uproars caused by the animals cause lead younger readers to believe these scenarios are apart of real life. Violence is a problem in the world today, and when children are given the chance to view violence, their minds don’t always go the ethical way.
“Nobody is superior, nobody is inferior, but nobody is equal either. People are simply unique, incomparable. You are You, I am I” (Osho). Equality, is being able to stand up for what you believe in and not let anyone tell you otherwise. During the 19th century in Russia, there wasn’t much equality.
Girls and boys, men and women, rebel against others because they believe that what others ask of them are wrong. People believe that not everything being requested is the right way to go. What's being asked could either be illegal or not approved by today's society. Men and women usually will go against anyone who tries to make them do things that are illegal. The myth states that Landrat knew, best, but Fredrick concluded the truth was opposite (Macdonogh 10). Anders states that, “if tea was brought in, men were not allowed to unload it off the ship”(2). Even since the 1700s, men and women ignored the government and capitols laws. If people believed that what the government is requesting, they would just ignore them and keep doing what they please. Even if they government specifically said they are not allowed to do such a thing.
Camus describes Rebellion as a theory that “is born of the spectacle of irrationality, confronted with an unjust and incomprehensible condition. It protests, it demands, it insists that the outrage be brought to an end, and that what has up to now been built upon shifting sands should henceforth be founded on rock.” (4). Rebelling is a sign of weakness and not taking a challenge head on. Albert Camus wrote an essay called “The Rebel” which talked about the revolt of mankind on life.
