What is the ethnic or cultural background of your parents?
Both of my parents are White Americans.
Did any family members immigrate to this country?
My father’s side emigrated from England while my mother’s side emigrated from England and Germany.
What are your most important cultural, ethnic, or religious influences?
Both of my parents have always identified as being Christian (not sure which denomination), yet I do not feel as though they are very religious people. My mother’s father is a strong believer in the Christian faith and he follows the morals of what it means to be a Christian. Therefore, I have a Christian influence, but it is altered depending on which family member it pertains to. Overall, it does not seem as though my family has very strong cultural, ethnic, and religious influences. I am currently at a place where I do not believe that only one religion or way of living life is true. To my knowledge, no one else in my neighborhood was raised by their father. They were either raised by a mother and a father or just their mother. I do not think that everyone approved of this because when my sister and I had our 7th birthday party we invited a whole bunch of friends from school. They all showed up but when a brother and sister showed up with their mother, their mother took them away when she found out that my father was the only adult there. People found it odd, maybe even inappropriate that a father was raising three children on their own, especially two girls. My father felt terrible because our friends left, but when I was old enough to truly understand what happened I felt bad for my father because it was not right for someone else to question his parenting. It is true it was difficult at times, but I am glad that I was raised by my father because he has helped make me the woman I am
