The ethical dilemma I decided to write about is one that happened to a close relative who is into architecture/construction. He had recently gotten a private construction contract and oversaw doing the architectural design for the building as well as constructing the building. The number of approved floors were two floors. After they had started the foundation / first floor the client had offered him some extra money in exchange for him to build an extra floor. Making it a total of three floors.

The dilemma will most likely fall under individual versus community in my own opinion. My dad has very good work ethics and follows rules and regulations as he believes rules are there to be followed. However, he also had financial difficulties at the time and considered the offer the client had made. He also had to consider what was at stake for everyone including himself, his client and his business. This client was also a regular client and this was the first time they had made such a request. Refusing him could mean that he will no longer get future businesses from him. He decided to convince the client that adding an extra floor would not be a good idea. …show more content…

Which is fair considering he was not being selfish and his intentions were to hire more people. However, without the necessary approvals this could lead into more harm for the people. In my opinion, as much as it was a yes or no decision, he had to explain his stance on this. He had to find a way to convince the clients of his reasons and rationalizations as to why adding an additional floor without the proper approvals would be not be
