Ethic Essay When you were younger I’m sure your teacher asked you and your classmates what you wanted to be when you grew up. I remember some of my classmates wanting to be a fireman, a police officer or a doctor. I wanted to be an educator. Being the naive and carefree child that I was, I had no knowledge of what responsibilities or rules would be packaged into this career. Now that I am in college earning my Bachelors in Elementary Education, my perspective of how a teacher should act and care for their students. Many people think that you can enjoy life if you are tied down by a bunch of rules. In my opinion, I think having high moral standard for myself as an educator towards my students and to the public eye is very important to me. When I become an educator my reputation is on the line every day. Whether it’s how I dress or how I speak, no matter what I do I am being watched. I have come to terms that I am perfectly okay with that. Agreeing to Association of American Educators, I recognize that it is my duties are to communicate to parents all information, manifests a positive and active role in school/community relations, not willfully make false statements about a colleague or the school system and effort to protect the student from conditions detrimental to learning, health, or safety. Not only will my superior commander and colleagues will have high of standards for me, but Saint Leo University has high expectations for me as well. I understand that Saint Leo expects me to recognize students’ unique prior knowledge, promote achievement of students at all levels, and provide equitable learning opportunities for all students. In doing this, I will accomplish my position as a positive role model for my students and others. I honestly believe that having these high moral standard for me to follow will guide me in the right direction in becoming an effective
Honor is….hook. On October 9 2012, an honorable young girl fought for her rights and the rights of others, only to be met with a bullet to her head; this girl’s name is Malala Yousafzai. There are few people in the world with this much honor and good moral. Honor is shown when people act with integrity, taking matters into their own hands to make a good change in the world. Culture affects honor because it causes people to see the world through different aspects (views) , but people still stand up for what they believe in, whether it is on their lifestyle, education, or religion. While Seikei depicts honor by following the samurai code of conduct in Medieval Japan, Winston Churchill’s acts of optimism during the 20th century, and Malala’s courage to fight for what she believes in all the way in Pakistan display honor.
We amass singular opinions, qualities, and presumptions that influence how we approach our day to day existence. As rational beings we are faced with conflicting thoughts. Its beneficial to consider these clashing contemplations since it enhances our “mental dexterity” (Lecture, September 29, 2016), moral reasoning, and our ability to critically think. But its troublesome through the concept of “cognitive dissonance” (ChangingMinds.org). This can be resolved through consistent presentation of new thoughts that makes enough internal clash to cause a change or revision in beliefs.
Students who graduate from Charles Darwin University are expected to have particular qualities that help to maintain citizenship within their future workplace. In the Forensic Science workplace social responsibility is a fundamental attribute needed for an employee to effectively communicate, work in a team and achieve optimum job performance. Qualities such as effective communication and teamwork will be displayed unconsciously if Forensic Scientists are able to work under socially responsible conditions. Corporate Social Responsibility is the most important attribute of a graduate employee looking to work in Forensic Science because it helps individuals align their work with helping their community. Although, without the aid of effective communication skills and the ability to work in a team, employees are left with work efficiency somewhat to be desired.
My goal as a teacher is to provide children with a rich environment where they feel safe to explore, initiate learning, and feel free to express their feelings. My personal philosophy is to respect all children and their families’ cultures, ethnicities, race, and beliefs. I treat each child fairly to ensure that all children feel equally special, have families, communities, and educators work as one.
There are many causes and reasons on why we are prone or more likely to help certain groups of people compared to another when they are in trouble and in need of our help. One of the reasons that might influence one’s helping behavior is social norm. Social norm of helping can tell us why or when we should help other people when they need our help. Social norm is a putative behavior that an individual is expected to do and obeys to in any particular groups or community that can also be a basis for any acceptable and good behaviors. In other words, social norm can help people to decide on what they should do in any uncertain situations. Norms can also influence someone’s behavior and reasons on why they do what they do.
As an educator, one should be careful of their actions and take ownership of their career. This is the premise of the Ownership Principle. I believe that all professionals need to be conscience of their decisions and actions that could negatively affect his or her career. Educators especially need to have morals because they work with children and things you think are little can make a big impression on a child. Teachers shape the children they have in their classroom, so if the children see their teacher doing dishonest and inappropriate things, they will think that these actions are acceptable. Organizations are constantly tested with various moral and ethical problems and dilemmas. Organizational leaders are the key to establishing an ethical climate in the workplace. By understanding and improving their own moral reasoning, and the biases that affect moral judgment, they enable themselves to make better decisions. This has a catalytic effect that positively increases organizational climate, ultimately improving all organizational behavior.
When Christians first encounter the idea of creating a spiritual discipline, some almost instantly become overwhelmed with anxiety because they must perform well for God to please Him and get to heaven. I was once one of them and to a point, I still think that way. However, the more focus on the relationship with Jesus and nothing else brings about the desires to want more in terms of spiritual growth. Desires however, do not last if disciplines are not met with a genuine commitment to maintain a fervent relationship with Jesus. For my rule of life, I will pencil in daily life disciplines that fit in the season of life that I am in currently so that God can work in me and I can become Christ like. First, I will commit fifteen minutes to daily prayer with God. Second, I will commit fifteen minutes to daily scripture reading. Moral ethics is the belief that all human beings are born to know right from wrong. We come into this world as good people, but the temptations and challenges in life influence our mind set to as it will. One of the biggest influences on the youth in society today are teachers, adults that students are in everyday contact with. Teachers are needed to instruct youth and students to be quality citizens in the community and to teach students values, morals and to educate the youth on how to become better people as well as helping adolescents grow into adulthood. A respectable goal for someone becoming a teacher is be devoted to the profession, take schooling seriously, and sincerely care for the students. What is the universally accepted basis of right and wrong? That is one difficult question because the concept of right and wrong is actually relative. Ethical norms have developed over time and across cultures as people of goodwill consider human relationships and how human beings act when they are at their best. However, the meaning of ethics is still hard to pin down. Philosophically, ethics is an attempt to answer Socrates' question of how one should live. This is a general question which, for any individual, could translate to "How should I live?" Not all answers to this question are of the ethical type as one may say he or she would lead a self-indulgent life. Ethics tries to answer "How should one live?" given that we already live in a society.
The role and responsibilities of a teacher is very complex. Teachers are responsible for making sure their learners acquire the knowledge they need, but also achieve their qualification by the end of the course in a safe learning environment, so they have the skills and experience they need to start their careers. To achieve that goal a teacher must be creative, professional, flexible and knowledgeable enough to deal with daily challenges and find different ways to help their learners needs. Establishing a safe and stimulating environment for learners, creating mutual respect and set goals that stretch and challenge learners of all backgrounds and abilities.
Ethics is the philosophical study of morality. These days our society is changing due to advanced technology, hence the study of ethics is very important than the previous decades. In fact, the study of ethics is not a new issue but Socrates and Plato used ethical reasoning to explain different unjust issues before 2000 years. Ethics is one of the major issues, which does have not any guideline to a particular activity that is morally good, bad or neutral. However, everyone has different understanding and judgment about ethics depend on their cultural, economical, and family back ground. For instance, lying is unethical in most society and it is normal for some other cultures. Therefore, it is difficult to give universal meaning about morality as it depends on a given culture. For this reason, I would say there is not a single universal standard to label someone’s ethical decision as right and wrong. However, all countries should adopt ethical behavior with their environment in order to have honesty and caring society. An Individual can choose among different alternatives based on his or her ethical decision, but it is very difficult to say his or her ethical decision is right or wrong.
