The statement that the emotionally strongest of the three presentations of the ‘To This Day’ poem is the picture book is fictitious. The poem ‘To This Day’, written and spoken by author Shane Koyczan, is about how children can be cruel to other children, making some’s lives miserable and others end. The poem ‘To This Day’ has been written from his perspective as a child, with personal experiences of how this cruelty affects the lives of others not just when they are children, but growing up as well, and it is represented unjustly in all formats apart the animation, for the impact both emotionally and creatively is far superior compared to that of the picture book and the TED Talk.

As mentioned earlier, the animation grants the viewer the full impact of the meanings behind the words. Characters in the animation express their emotion in a very raw state, showing the audiences that what is being said is true, helping the viewers relate and display sympathy for the characters, which creates a memorable experience. Also mentioned earlier, is the presence of the music in the background of the animation. This added dimension helps dramatically as it permits audiences to once again, be fully emerged in the emotion of the poem and visual display, thus the animation delivers in all areas.
Shane Koyczans poem ‘To This Day’ is an elaborate story, told in few words, and many formats. However, the ultimate format is the animation, for it is better told, expressed and visualised. As said in previous paragraphs, visually, it allows readers to fully connect with the characters in the story, whom are expressed with continuous emotion thanks to the music present which helps to engage the viewer.
