Essay On Photosynthesis

.
Photosynthesis is the biological process whereby radiant light is converted into chemical energy, light is absorbed by the chlorophyll, (a green pigment in chloroplast) the light (radiant) energy is trapped by the chlorophyll. Photosynthesis mainly occurs in the leaves because they have chlorophyll.
Oxygen is given off as a waste product the process of photosynthesis requires raw materials such as carbon dioxide, radiant energy, oxygen and water. Photosynthesis is the process of making glucose, a carbohydrate that is needed by humans in order to stay sustained with energy. Photosynthesis requires a lot of factors for it to carry out its function effectively, it definitely needs light and in this research task will find out if light is really vitally important for the process of photosynthesis. The more light intensity the plant is exposed to, the effective the photosynthesis role will occur at. There will be different type of variables for this experiment, independent variable would be the light intensity, dependent variable would be the rate of photosynthesis and the controlled variables would be the plant, leaves, and the amount of water. .
Light is a raw material which plays a huge role in the process of photosynthesis, along with other many factors such as water, oxygen, chlorophyll and carbon dioxide. They all work together in the process of photosynthesis therefore when one is carrying out any experiments should bear in mind that these factors may interfere, because they part of photosynthesis.
In order for photosynthesis to occur it needs the energy from the sun, it can be affected by a whole lot of things including temperature, carbon dioxide, and light intensity, wavelength and carbon dioxide levels.

...effectively. Their leaves are serrated around the edges. They also grow easily in any conditions, making them easily to find and insects or pesticides don’t usually go to this type of plant.
They are mostly used for variety of testing including the pollen tube growth, it’s a robust plant making it easier when wanting to produce a new plant from a parent plant; this can be done by stem cutting. I decided to do my experiment using geranium leaves, because they thin and they mostly need the light and water just like other plants, however geraniums require more water and light. It’s therefore a good plant to use in finding the light intensity. When they are kept on a windowsill where there in contact with a lot of light, they grow quicker. This then, gives me a conclusion that light does play an important role during photosynthesis and as part of the growth of plants.
