The purpose of this essay is to present an in depth review on a historic figure named Jonh Trudell. This essay will consist of John Trudell's general background, what groups and organizations he associated himself with throughout his lifetime, and the impact he has had for thousands of people. Reasons why such a person is significant includes being courages, having a strong motive to fight for what they believe in, possessing the will power to push through any adversity that may be placed upon them. John Trudell has these characteristics and it will be seen why throught this essay beginning with his general background. John Trudell was born in Ohama, Nebraska on february 15,1946 where he was raised in small towns in Northern Nebraska near the southeast corner of South Dakota. The tribe he associates himself with is the Santee Sioux tribe (Nichols). Later on, John joins the American Indian Movement (AIM) and would become the chairman from 1973 to 1979. He took part in the 1973 armed stand-off against police force at Wounded Knee. Then six years later on February 11,1979 John would travel to Washington DC to protest against the governments injusticeness against the Native Americans. John went to the FBI headquarters with a group of AIM members where he would burn the american flag on the steps in front of the building. Twelve hours later John's pregnant wife, three kids, and mother-in-law died inside their house which caught on fire on accident, supposedly. John believed it was the FBI's way of trying to keep him silent. After that incident John would withdraw from the group AIM and began his interest into the artist
