I was always nice to her and tried to be her friend since other people did not talk to her. I would greet her everyday and do my best to put a smile on her face. After middle school graduation I never saw her again. Jimmy was my other friend that also had Down syndrome. I very close to Jimmy and we would talk on a daily basis. I met him in High School when I was on the football team. Jimmy was a part of the football team just like I was. He obviously didn’t play but he was treated like as if he was our own brother. Jimmy was an inspiration to our football team. Wherever the football team was, Jimmy was there. During practices, games, and watching film, Jimmy was there. He was no different than the rest of us besides the fact that he wasn’t able to play Football on Friday nights. I was... ... middle of paper ... ... They are able to be a non-disabled classroom and learn like a normal student would. in the last fifty years they have broken barriers and doing things people thought they would never be able to do. They are living longer, working at jobs, and living life to the fullest. People with Down syndrome are growing and the population of them is rising. They are very capable and always looking to do something to make them happy. Down syndrome is a disability with very many capabilities.
