Obtaining the characteristics of a master teacher may take a lot of time and effort, however, when one does become a master teacher, they will be able to help their students learn so much more. In this essay, there will be examples of master teachers, the answer to the question of why Christ is the true master teacher, and how I strive today to become a master teacher. In my life I have had many great teachers. We can learn from an article written by Elaine McEwan that there are 10 characteristics of a good teacher, including, mission-driven and passionate, positive and real, style, book learning, and instructional effectiveness. However, this is not the main reason I consider Mrs. Hansen to be a master teacher. The reason why Mrs. Hansen was so successful is because of one main characteristic that she held, love. If you learned one thing in her classroom it is that you are loved and that she wanted you to succeed. Christ was able to see people’s weaknesses and strengths and use his skill to help them overcome their weaknesses and make their strengths stronger. Another characteristic that President Lee states is, “His simple language enabled him to reach and hold hearers from every class and condition.” Christ taught his followers as though they were little children. His lessons were simple and to the point. He did not overcomplicate principles of the gospel. Some teachers seem to get carried away and give too much information at once.
