Changes to the profession of the American Soldier has changed since1776 when continental congress first founded the Army. The change is due to the cultural diversity of the young people joining the Army now a days. The number of ongoing combat operations in various third world countries affects this. The Army has begun a new way of training and planning to meet the constant changes. The constant deployment these young men and women have had to endure has left them stressed and stretched to their limits. That unfortunately is the one thing that has not and will not change. That is one of the main purposes of serving in the Army.

In the past Soldier were held to a higher discipline and physical standard, you marched every were you went. Protractors and maps were the norm to get from one place to another. One uniform pattern was worn for all deployments whether it was combat or humanitarian. Now there are more updated types uniform is worn depending on the mission. The combat situations are becoming more unconventional so more sophisticated equipment is being produced and used in the field. The Army is at a point in its profession that will define the way it fights. Flexibility is going to be the key to its success. That is why the Army must adapt to the current operation requirement while still evolving into a stronger and better fighting force. Currently some standards have been toned down as to attract more enlistment and retention. This creates an opportunity to replace some of the lost knowledge and at the same time keep new ideas coming flowing in. This new Army encourages its troops to constantly learn whether thru civilian education or training focused on task for advancement within the military. Self-improvement and shearing that with others is what the main focus of what a Soldiers idea should
