Trusler1 Katlyn Trusler Mrs. Spanos English II 3/18/2014 Solutions for the Stressed Out High School Student By: Katlyn Trusler Every teenager deals with stress, some teenagers stress daily, weekly even monthly. It’s just stress; it’s not a big deal right? Wrong. Studies have shown that stress over a long period of time can damage our body’s immune system and cardiovascular system.(G. Neil Martin, pg.188) this proves that stress can hurt our body. High school students deal with more things than just homework in today’s generation: ‘’Many teens today deal with the death of a classmate by murder, accident or suicide.’’(Gwen K. Packard, pg. 33) These every day worries contribute to teen stress. High school students deal with ridiculous amounts of stress every day, there are many ways to relieve this daily stress. Staying healthy is one way of avoiding stress altogether. Staying healthy can reduce the effects of stress on our bodies. By staying healthy we can strengthen our immune system and our cardiovascular system, which can both be affected by long term stress. Although staying Trusler2 healthy can be difficult, it does help with stress. Exercising is an excellent way to stay healthy; although it can be dreadful at times it does relieve all of the effects of stress. Doing things like eating right and getting the required hours of sleep each night is an important thing to do in order to stay healthy. (Gwen K. Packard, pg. 134) Although exercising can be dreadful, it is an excellent way to stay healthy and a great way to relieve our stress. ‘’When you are under stress, your body reacts with a fight – or – flight response which involves increasing your heart rate, blood pressure, and musc... ... middle of paper ... ... to treat it and relieve it. Many teens in high school today deal with stress every single day. Although teens deal with stress at school daily there are many solutions to relieve or eliminate the stress from our lives. By staying healthy we can strengthen our immune system and our cardiovascular system. When we take responsibility in our stress we feel more in control, and we can reduce our stress. When we look at stress in a positive way, we can also reduce our stress. Doing things such as massages and different therapies we can reduce the effects stress has on our bodies, and we can reduce the effects of ‘’flight response’’.
