The broad answer for what an electrical engineer does is to work and think to design and develop electronic equipment, parts, and systems, which can range from power lines to kitchen appliances (Career). Engineers have to utilize computer design systems to modify prototypes for products or different components of a product. They also have to calculate the costs of materials, consider efficiency, different equipment needed, as well as how much work required to create a product (Nae). This can get very difficult and requires a lot of thoughts and ideas to come up with various ways to make a product or component better or more efficient to use. One example of daily responsibilities of an electrical engineer is at MET Laboratories, where they have to test a lot of the newer equipment, as well as troubleshooting and making sure everything works properly. Along with that, they also have to modify the designs of this equipment to ensure safety as well as the efficiency of the product. Performing tests on EMC (electromagnetic capability) is also a very important responsibility of an electrical engineer at MET Laboratories (“Electrical” CareerBuilder). Being an electrical engineer is great because you are essentially getting paid for thinking and creating your own ideas and thoughts to make a product better. It is very rewarding when your ideas get implemented into a design of a product that …show more content…
A lot of the benefits are job benefits, where you get more opportunities as well as better pay. Another convenience of being an electrical engineer is essentially being paid to come up with new ideas, and though you may not always have solutions to a specific problem, you are still being paid pretty well. Some of the downsides of this job can include working in an office all day. As an electrical engineer, you may not be able to get the opportunity to work outside of an office building, so this is not the job for someone who loves the outdoors. Another flaw is it may get boring and difficult to come up with solutions to a problem, as this is not an easy task. Engineers can spend many hours or even days trying to find a solution to a problem or a better, more efficient way to make a part. Being an engineer requires the willingness to put in lots of hours to try to make things more efficient and easier, as well as wanting to work in a larger city. Different jobs in the field of engineering could potentially require working for a large company or corporation. Electrical engineering could be the perfect field to pursue as a career path because it is well paying, requires math, science, critical thinking skills, and the ability to be detail
The word engineer comes from the latin word ingeniare. ingeniare means construct or craftsmanship. Ever since the beginning of time we have had engineers. Engineering is the combination of math and science , solving world problems to help better the world around us. Being an engineer takes a lot of knowledge, creativity, and hard work. A typical engineer can clearly see a problem and is capable of fining a solution. A senior engineer or engineering manager usually doesnt do as much technical work, but usally lot of managing. Some of the first official engineers were military engineers. They were employed by the goverment to build such things as roads, bridges, and weapons. US mililary Academy at Westpoint was the first school to offer an education in enginnering. Engineering is a very broad field. Engineers are always at a high demand, we could never have enough brilliant minds making the world better. Engineers are needed everywhere. Engineering managers have to have a bachelor's degree or higher, they usually direct and seek solutions to problems and are sometimes called executi...
My decision to become an electrical engineer was not a decision I took too long ago. It is something that I decided to pursue when I entered a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) high school. It was then that I realized how much I enjoyed working with computers and building circuits, and the fact that this career involved many subjects. Doing a lot of research to understand better what it meant to be an Electrical Engineer, I found out that in order to succeed in this career one had to know a little bit of everything. In other words, subjects such as science and math are essential to know if someone wants to be successful electrical engineer. An electrical engineer is someone who finds practical solutions to everyday problems that involve electricity, such as computers, cell phones, among other electrical equipments. In order to create a useful device one must know where to start and this is where science comes in. An electrical engineer must be able to use the scientific method, which means; one must form a procedure, test it out, and write a conclusion. These parts of the scientific method must be written clearly, so that others can recreate and test out a device or project. Math also plays a key role in this area of study, because one must be precise when creating a new device that others are going to use. For example, if one were to create a new type of cell phone one must know a lot of math in order to be able to progr...
Engineers are valuable assets to any company because they think analytically. Engineers may advance to become technical specialists or to supervise a staff or team of engineers and technicians. Some eventually become engineering managers or enter other managerial or sales jobs.
Engineering has been a key interest of mine since childhood. While still in grade school I enjoyed listening to my father, an electrical engineer, teach me about advances in technology, and was always eager to hear more. I was introduced to my first computer at the age of five, and have loved interacting with them ever since. My decision to study engineering as a career was no surprise to those who knew me.
Everyone wants to be something from a doctor to a stylist, I want to be a mechanical engineer. This is something I have always wanted to do in my life, the opportunities that exist in this field can lead to anything. Mechanical engineers are able to do many tasks in the job environment from designing, to developing, and also building. In addition, as new companies are starting up they will need mechanical engineers to help them develop their product. All of the engineering fields have great pay, that is able to support my family and also my parents. In the work environment of a mechanical engineer, they usually are around an office and sometimes where their product is being used at. To be able to apply for a mechanical engineering job you
Electrical Engineers research, develop, design, and test electronic components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, medical, military, and scientific applications (Cosgrove 749). They are concerned with devices that use small amounts of electricity that make up electronic components such as integrated circuits and microprocessors. By applying principles and techniques of electronic engineering they design, develop, and manufacture products such as computers, telephones, radios, and stereo systems (EGOE, 121). Electrical engineers touch everyone lives through the things they have designed or created. Electrical engineers have invented the lights in your house, the television, the stereo, the telephone, computers, and even your doctor’s blood pressure gauge (Stine 300).
The career I have chose to write and research on is Electrical engineering; I selected this career because it is the field I wish to go into once I graduate. As of right now there are approximately 3.95 million people employed in the job field as an electrical engineer. The employe rate has been up and down constantly over the years, but the last couple years it has been increasing. It is predicted over the next year to increase by 4.13%, and it supposed to continue to grow in the future years. There are numerous jobs under the field of electrical engineering such as: Aerospace engineers, architects, biomedical engineer, computer hardware engineer, electricians, sales engineers
“Knowledge, experience and the quality education are the best accomplishment in the race of life” is the statement in which I strongly believe and I forever yearn to have that. What is innovative today is obsolete tomorrow. We need to constantly streamline and upgrade our tools and resources. I believe that only an in depth study and an extensive research in my field of interest will help me to achieve my goal. I live in a world of changing times where technology is constantly engineering better lives. Brought up in a liberalized, humane and a capriciously technically charged environment, I see myself being a consistent part of constant changes around me. Today, my thoughts and aims in life spring from and centre around the world of Electrical Engineering.
Engineering is the application of scientific, economic design and a wide range of other specialized fields of engineering. As an engineer, there are four major different areas of engineering work that I can concern about, that is chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering. Beyond this four, sources separate to other main branches. Based on the electrical engineering is concerned with the basic forms of energy that run the world, there is a hopeful future in taking this major as my direction of future. However, what exactly is the benefit of this major; am I suppose to choose this major; what kinds of job opportunities that I am able to get and various of other questions are what I concerned the most.
...ing what once was impossible, possible. Anything with a screen, batteries, or a plug can be traced back to an Electrical Engineer. From shavers, to microprocessors, to lasers, to cellphones, to medical equipment, to a paper shredder or a copy machines, Electrical Engineers work to advance and improve the lives of our society in all aspects involving electricity.
There are some pros and cons that come with this career. Some could consider the pay to be a benefit of this profession. The median pay for mechanical engineering in 2012 was approximately $80,580 per year. (“Occupational Outlook Handbook”). Some people may not find this to be a good thing, however that is actually a well-paying job. The lowest 10 percent of mechanical engineers still earned an annual salary of over $50,000 per year. The highest 10 percent earned up to $120,000+ per year. Even if someone isn’t the best in the profession, they will still be making an exceptional amount of money. Another benefit of mechanical engineering is the hands on opportunities. Anyone who enjoys building things, or designing machines and blueprints, would enjoy mechanical engineering. A mechanical engineer will generally be found working in a manufacturing industry or an architectural and engineering facility. Since this is a career, most mechanical engineers use this as a full time job. Approximately 1/3 of mechanical engineers have been known to be working for more than 40 hours per week. (Work Environment). As with any career, there are not just pros. There are cons as well. A good example of a con that comes with this profession is the job outlook. Employment of mechanical engineers is expected only to grow 5% by the year 2022. That is less than average for a great deal of occupations. This doesn’t mean that it’s impossible
I am open to other jobs in Engineering if I find myself excited and passionate about the field as I continue in school. As for now however, I find myself magnetically drawn to the Electrical field, pun intended. Part of my past employment may be another influencing factor for wanting to work in this particular field. When I served in the Navy, my rate was Cryptologic Technician Collections with my focus in signals exploitation and analysis. That included understanding electromagnetic waves and the spectrum.
Electronics and communication engineering is very wide, Each and every company needs an electronics engineers because each and every machine needs a controlling system. If there is any fault occurs then in this condition an engineer or technician is required who can solve this problem. In other industries and manufacturing industries, a huge demand for an Electronics and Communication Engineers is there.
In the most basic sense, engineering means “making things happen.” It is the practical application of science and math, the two subjects I am most passionate about, to solve everyday problems. It opens up a world of opportunity to create innovative technology that influences many aspects of people’s lives, this giving an individual the power to make a difference. While I am deeply interested in the subjects that are the foundation of engineering, in addition I have many other personal reasons for pursuing civil engineering in specific. I am motivated by my desire to fulfill my lifelong goal of creating purposeful infrastructure, to make all of my family proud, and to prove that not all engineers
Electrical Engineering entails many benefits but also many sacrifices. It is not a job for everybody but it is a necessity in the modern times. Without Electrical Engineering, there would be no phone upgrades, no solar panels, no ways of conserving energy. This is a career that touches every living person on the planet. The reason this career was chosen was because of family business and my interest in anything electric. I’ve always been interested in how electricity works, even when I was a as young as 5. I would build my own simple circuits and light up my room when I was little. So this has always been an interest for me and I love it! Also I have a basically guaranteed a job out of school whether it be a electrical engineer after school
