Every person has people that have an influence on them. In the book The five people you meet in heaven, the main character Eddie has many. There were several people that had an impact on his life and the way he saw others. The three that stood out to me were, Marguerite, eddie’s father, and Tala. They taught him how to love unconditionally, being able to forgive people, and the purpose behind Eddie's life. Marguerite was the one and only love that Eddie ever had. Since Marguerite was not able to conceive children, her and Eddie decided to save up money to adopt. Eddie gambled the money to adopt and lost it all damaging Marguerite and his relationship. When he finally got the courage to leave they burned the whole camp down. Eddie thought he sean someone in the hut, he was walking into the hut. One of his comrades tried to stop him but he put him down. The captain had to shoot him in the leg to stop him from going inside. The hut was burned down with the young girl inside, Tala. Tala helped Eddie relies that he had a purpose in life. His purpose was doing maintenance at the Ruby Pier and keeping everyone safe. By doing this task, which he resented, he was keeping future generations safe. Tala was able to teach Eddie that everyone has a purpose in life.
In Eddie's life he had a purpose and rules to live by, although he didn't realize it until after he died. Several people had an influence on Eddie's. They were able to teach Eddie how to love through death, forgiveness, and the ability to have a purpose in life. He wanted to play football, he wanted to go to college by playing football, he wanted to win the Heisman Trophy, and he wanted to play in the pros. His mother Donna said, " to fulfill those goals, you have to build up your character." She was the "architect" in the family. Eddie, 22, and his sister Leslie, 25, who works for an insurance company in suburban Philadelphia, grew up in a single parent household, after their mother separated in 1980 from their largely absentee father, also named Eddie. They were later divorced, and Donna said that Eddie's relationship with his father remains distant. (5)
In The Five People You Meet In Heaven, Mitch Albom simply represents his version of what heaven could be like. Ideally, in this heaven people who felt unimportant here on earth would realize, finally, how much they mattered and how they were loved. "This is the greatest gift God can give to you: to understand what happened in your life. To have it explained. It is the peace you have been searching for." This is what I had been searching for as well, a piece of heavena moment to learn five lessons about life, love, relationships, sacrifice, and forgiveness. These five lessons taught me how to live.
Everyone Eddie met in heaven taught him something about his life. They were all connected to him in different ways, whether it was someone close to him once, or a complete stranger. Somehow, all of their lives had crossed Eddie’s and helped make him the person that he had become. When you think about this lesson, you truly understand. One decision causes an effect, maybe on your life or maybe on someone else’s life. That effect will cause something else. It’s what I think of as a ripple effect. Everything happens for a reason, and all of the events that lead up to our “now” makes us who we are.
In Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird, the Finches strongly influenced Aunt Alexandra when she visited their home. By the end of the book, Aunt Alexandra was almost a completely different person because of her stay at the Finches. The whole reason for her visit was to change Scout, but instead she got changed herself. This was not what was meant to happen, but it did. This sort of thing happens in many families, as well. A family member come to change someone else, but ends up get changed instead. The ironic part of this is that when it happen, the family member who is changed, usually get positively influenced. In more cases than not, positive influence comes to people who strived to change the personality of others.

Edward’s detachment from society is the result of a floozy’s lie, a deranged woman’s religious claims, and a teen with an inflated ego that all seem to hate Edward because of his differences and because they cannot tell what he is and what his intentions are. Edward is a good person and he is not even a real human being. He is more kind and uncorrupt then the real human beings who live in the community. It matters to Joyce, Esmeralda, and Jim that Edward be definable and that they can recognize him as something with emotions and motives. However, Edward does not make any sense to any of them at all and their prejudices continue to exist because they do not and will not take the time to figure out that Edward’s differences are actually not as horrific as they make them out to be.
My parents were very influential in the development of my story.
