22-year-old British musician, Edward Christopher "Ed" Sheeran, was born on February 17, 1991 in Halifax, United Kingdom. Ed grew up in Framlingham, Suffolk, England. Ed Sheeran is a talented musician because of the experiences the musician had growing up. The musician's father, John, was an art curator and mother, Imogen Lock, was an art curator and later started a jewelry making business. Imogen sang in a church choir exposing Ed to singing. An uncle gave Ed a guitar at the age of 10. While first learning to play the guitar Ed's father took the singer to concerts across England.
After the concerts, Ed returned home and became serious about music. Soon after, Ed developed an acoustic folk pop rap sound. The musical influences for the sound came from the parent’s record collection including musicians such as The Beatles, Van Morrison, and Joni Mitchell and 1990s rap. At 11-years-old, the young man met idol Damien Rice backstage at a gig in Ireland. This experience opened the door into songwriting. Ed soon began selling CD’s after words of advice from Damien Rice.
An 8-track in the singer's bedroom served as the recording device and the initial earnings went towards Coca Cola and Twix. Ed continued to make music in high school and decided to drop out at the age of 16 to concentrate on music. The fame started to grow after exposure on YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook. At the time, Ed slept on sofas, posted music online and released homemade EPs (Extended Plays). Next was a move to London to play the club scene in 2008. Sheeran played 312 shows.

Eddie Van Halen was born in Holland in 1955 and immigrated to Pasadena California. At the age of seven, Eddie was training as a classical pianist, although his love for Rock and Roll was developing. He started working a paper route and used the money to buy a drum set. His brother Alex, also musically inclined, bought a guitar. After months of practicing, Alex and Eddie switched instruments. Alex would spend hours on Eddie's drums and loved to play them. Eddie, a little frustrated with the drums, picked up Alex's guitar and felt at home with the instrument. Eddie would sit in his room for hours memorizing Eric Clapton guitar rifts' from "Cream". In his teenage years, Eddie and Brother Alex Van Halen played in local clubs and local parties in California. They started become a big name in the local area of Pasadena California. A police officer once commented that the parties that the Van Halen brothers played at were so big, that the police were looking for where the party was in a four-block radius. There would be almost 2,000 people attending house parties when the Van Halen brothers played. Billy Joel was born on May 9, 1949 in Bronx, New York. He moved at the age of four to a small town on Long Island. This is where at the ripe age of four he discovered the art of music. Originally a classical music fan, Billy Joel honed his skills with classical piano training. This undoubtedly has had a major influence on his life and certainly his music. Growing up Joel was a big fan of such greats as Ray Charles, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and Otis Reading. He was greatly persuaded into a career of music when he saw the Beatles perform on the Ed Sullivan Show. Amusingly Joel's first band was inspired by the uncanny opportunity to meet girls. The band was called The Echoes, but this was not the best of times for Joel because his parents were involved in a messy divorce, which included serious financial shortcomings. Joel even began working professional music gigs at night to help support his mother. Joel's schoolwork suffered a little and he began missing school way too often. He was subsequently not allowed to graduate with his high school class due to the number of absences. After high school Joel immediately joined a very popular band called The Hassels for which he recorded two albums with. Within two years Joel was on to a new band which he named Attila, and featured heavy metal drummer Jon Small who he played with during his time with The Hassels. Despite the previous release of two albums Joel still needed to bring in more money so he worked many music related jobs and gigs. He even wrote a rock and roll criticism piece in a weekly column for a magazine.

However, Jimi Hendrix was the rock legend who changed the way music was made and he raised the bar for the rest of the music industry. Jimi was born in 1942, in Seattle, Washington, he had a difficult childhood, being raised by a young mom who had Jimi at seventeen and a dad who eventually left and started another family, he was often left living with relatives. With his deep lyrics, amazing stage presence, incredible guitar skills, and his passion, he is an untouchable force in the music industry. Ian Curtis was 23 years old when he hung himself in his home in Macclesfield, England. The events that led to the singers death should have been warning signs of his plans, but his personality kept him from receiving the help he desperately needed. Born on July 15th, 1956 in Manchester, England Ian had a considerably normal childhood to follow. He had one little sister and his working class family were very tightnit with other family members as well as each other. Edward Kennedy "Duke" Ellington was born on April 29, 1899 in Washington D.C. His mother Daisy, surrounded Edward with her very polite friends which taught him to have respect and manners for people. After a while his friends started beginning to notice his politeness and his dapper style and gave him the nickname “duke.” When Ellington was seven years old he started taking piano lessons and found his love for music, although his love for baseball was more potent at the time. Ellington recalls President Roosevelt coming by on his horse at times and watching the boys play baseball. Ellington wound up getting his first job selling peanuts at baseball games. While working at the Soda Jerk in the Poodle Café in the summer of 1914, Ellington wrote his first composition and called the piece “Soda Fountain Rag”, he created it by ear because he had not yet learned how to write or read the music. Ellington recalls playing the “Soda Fountain Rag” as a one-step, two-step, waltz tango and fox trait, he said, “listeners never knew it was the same piece.
