Ringing in the New Year, we’ve chosen an individual who has created his own music and created interesting remixes of other songs over the course of (now) 16 years. We enjoy the twists he plays on his music and admire his efforts to take his music to live performance stage. Local to Brick Township, NJ, Brian Stewart (DJversion666) started out, born and raised, in Evansville Indiana, playing in a multitude of bands, playing bass and/or singing various genres of music. Upon moving to Nashville, he has done studio work, laying down bass tracks for commercials and advertisements. Continuing down the path of music Stewart attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. He combines various genres and ties them all together with an industrial sound.

After the Prelude album, 2002 began a stale moment until he began putting together a project called Alchemy of Sound that later changed to DJversion666. He explained that he chose the name as he had been djing in an mostly open format I chose that name, as I had been djing for a few years up to now. He attributes most of his gain back into music to Exemia, whom has collaborated on remakes of his songs, such as “Goodbye World”. It was the beginning of having his music with the exception of instrumentals and “Future Gods”, on contemplation CDs. Debra Rathwell is the Senior VP for AEG Live. Rathwell oversees the active New York office of AEG along with being a force in national touring. Rathwell has more than 30 years of experience in the industry and her dedication inspires me. I know she is well respected in the industry and I think it is impressive that she books on average 800 shows every year. Being a woman in the music industry is a big challenge, but Rathwell proves to me and the world that being hard working will help prove yourself. The first step that really started Rathwell’s career was during her last year at Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario. Rathwell was Harvey Glatt’s assistant and went on to work as Bass Clef Entertainment, which partnered on shows with Canada’s concert leaders. It is April 1861; the Civil War has just begun with the first attack on Fort Sumter. The Southern states have already seceded from the Union and formed the Confederate States of America. Now the country is split, Union in the North and the Confederacy in the South. Both the Union and the Confederacy will soon be in need of resources especially since war is about to be declared by Abraham Lincoln. Leadership for the Union and the Confederate armies are given away mostly to those with seniority rather than to those who deserve it by merit. James Ewell Brown (“Jeb”) Stuart is among the Confederacy leaders to gain his position as general not only because of his age but also because of his experience with fighting the Indians and other whites on the frontier in Bleeding Kansas. Jeb Stuart along with thirteen other Virginian’s was part of the Confederate leadership which was made up of a total forty-four men. Jeb Stuart was given his position because of the seniority he had over the other men signed up for the war, but did he also earn the position by merit and if so, does he keep his merit throughout the Civil War?

The Dave Matthews Band has been a musical power house for years. They have meshed together almost every type of music together to create their extremely unique sounds and attractiveness towards their music. Dave Matthews, lead singer and guitarist from South Africa has put together a band that no one will ever be able to create again. Dave picked four extremely talented and unique sounding men to join his band and together they have created some amazing music. The members of the band include Stefan Lessard on bass, Boyd Tinsley on violin, Leroi Moore on saxophone and one of the best drummers in the world, Carter Beauford. Together these men will one day leave behind a similar reputation as one of the all time greatest "jam" bands of time.
Imagine attending a concert in which if you were to close your eyes, you would assume that the music you are hearing is being created by a cast of band members, each playing their respective instruments. Contrary to your assumptions, however, this band only consists of one member. Keller Williams, dubbed by critics as a one-man-band, is one of a kind both in his musical talent and his solo act. Very few solo musicians have mastered such a multi-dimensional sound and captivating live show as Keller, making him standout amongst today’s musicians. Keller’s ability to perform improvisational live shows, form a large and dedicated fan base, and share the beliefs and attitudes of the hippie generation has given him the musical identity of the jam band genre in addition to his personal identity of being a solo act.
James Nathaniel Brown later known as Jim Brown was born February 17, 1936 in St. Simons Island, Georgia to parents Theresa and Swinton Brown. When he was just two weeks old his father, Swinton Brown a professional boxer, abandoned his family. Shortly after, his mother, Theresa Brown, also departed taking a job as a housekeeper in Manhasset, NY leaving Jim to be raised by his great grandmother for the first seven years of his life. At age 8 Jim reunited with his mother in Manhasset, NY where he had a difficult time adjusting to his new surroundings. Things improved for Jim once he found an outlet in playing sports. His athletic ability came natural. Although being the product of a broken home Jim went on to become one of the greatest professional athletes in the history of the United States. He was a 1st round 6th overall NFL draft pick in 1956 for the Cleveland Browns. During the 9 seasons he played Jim lead the league in rushing yards, and steered his team toward a championship against Baltimore winning with a score of 27-0. However even with all the success he had, and being at the peak of his career, Jim saw a life outside of football. At the age of 30 before the start of the 1966 season Jim announced his retirement. Some doubted he would stay away from football, but he never returned. (Jim Brown Biography) Instead he began focusing on social and economic causes that were directed at providing opportunities for Black people, especially Black business people (Simmonds).

Even though he faced challenges at the beginning, Eric has risen to be one of the most influential and important guitarists of all time (Johns, pp.20).
