Eating Disorders have been a huge problem all over the world. People have anorexia disorders or obesity disorders which can be very dangerous and life threatening. Women are more likely to be anorexic than men, and a lot has to do with how a woman sees herself , and compares herself to other women. Obesity is a huge problem in the United states over one hundred overweight surgeries are performed by surgeons per year.
Although many females have been on a diet some point in their life less than one percent develop these disorders. Eating disorders in adolescence have increased drastically in females and even caused some deaths. Binge eating is when people eat a massive amounts of food in a short amount of time and then self induced vomiting. Binge occurrences are linked with a sense of loss of control and instantly followed by feelings. The feelings are shame and guilt and that is when people begin to self- induce vomiting, fasting, and over exercising in order to feel better about themselves. A person with Bulimia Nervosa usually sustains an average weight, or may not even be noticeable. Bulimia Nervosa is less recognizable and is not as severe as anorexia. Bulimia Nervosa is hard to detect. Many health care professionals figure if a person is slightly underweight or overweight they must not have a problem and that is why Bulimia Nervosa is missed and many people may not notice or know if someone has an eating disorder. Lack of food and insufficient nutrients in the diet result in a extreme hunger and causes people to overeat in a short amount of time. When a person is in this stage of the disorder, their desire to eat is uncontrollable and results in binge eating or drinking foods in high fats and protein. Anorexia Nervosa is very recognizable, people who have anorexia have low body weight and they fear of gaining weight. People with anorexia tend to over exercise. The amount of calories burned and not enough nutrition leads to weight loss.There are two main types of anorexia. The most common is restricting type, this is what most people are diagnosed for and people with this type of anorexia restrict their food intake. People need to know how many calories are being consumed and they only eat one time a day. Some people only eat foods of one color. Even when they are extremely thin, they see themselves as too
