Car crashes are the leading cause of death for teens, and about a quarter of those crashes involved an underage drinking driver ("Mokeyane, Nola K."). Drunk driving can lead to terrible accidents like killing someone, losing your own life, imprisonment, criminal records, legal costs, increased insurance costs and living with guilt that you injured or caused an accident and then that can eventually lead to depression ("Drinking and Driving."). When drinking you lose judgement and many times you do things that you normally would not do sober. Drunk drivers are very dangerous on the road and they can easily hurt an innocent person or even hurt themselves ("Teenage Drinking."). Instead of getting into a car with a drunk driver you should really think before you act, think of the consequences and think about the endangerment you are getting yourself into. If you are a experienced driver and you drove under the influence before and nothing bad has happened. That probably makes you think that nothing will ever happen, but you are wrong anything can happen ("Drinking and Driving”). When consuming alcohol you often lose judgement and you do things you normally would not do sober. Drinking heavily over a longer periods of time can lead to very serious consequences. Alcohol not only harms yourself, but it also damages relationships and society ("Know… the Effects of Alcohol."). As teens our brains are still developing and consuming alcohol can damage many parts of our brain, affecting our behavior and our ability to learn and remember. It also can destroy relationships and affect society in general with violence and crime, accidents and drunk driving. Drunk driving is very dangerous. It can ruin many people’s lives, and it is now one of the most serious problems young people face. ("Teenage Drinking" ). Alcohol is a very serious problem among our teens today. Many people die from drunk driving. We need to make a change and prevent it. Drunk drivers are very dangerous on the road and they can easily hurt an innocent person or even hurt themselves. ("Teenage Drinking" ). When drinking and driving you are not fully aware on what is going on around you. You can crash into something when you’re not looking or even worse you could kill an innocent person. 85% of innocent victims are killed by drivers with blood alcohol levels over .10 ("What Are Your Chances of Being Killed by a Drinking Driver?"). The BAC ( Blood alcohol concentration ) limit in the United states is .08. In most states if you have a blood alcohol content greater than .01-.02. You will be considered to be driving under the influence. Many drunk drivers make the bad choice to drive under the influence not thinking before they act.
