If a student wishes to withdraw from or a drop a class they are allowed to do so, however there is a proper procedure to follow in each case. These procedures ensure the student is aware of the consequences and understands the personal liability and responsibility (Bethel CPS Guide). Contacting your advisor should always be the first step in this decision to withdraw or drop. Skipping this step could “result in failing grades and heavy financial obligations” (CPS Guide, pg31). If a student has attended less than 10 weeks of classes then an “Administrative Withdrawal” can be applied (CPS Guide, pg31). Locate the current class list and find the drop class tab and click on it. A list of current classes will populate into the screen, the student will need to find the class they wish to drop and click on the “drop class” tab beside the class name. (CPS Guide, pg31) The system will prompt you to confirm the drop, and if you are certain, select OK. If the class is not loaded to VCamp, you must email dropaclass@bethelu.edu from your Bethel email account. The email must contain the full name if the student, the last four numbers of their social security number, the course name and start date as well as the location of the class (CPS Guide, pg31-32). Depending on the length of time you have spent in that class will determine the amount of reimbursement for the class. For example, if you drop the class before the 2nd class session 100% of the funds will be reimbursed to your account and the course will disappear. Subsequently, if it’s before the 3rd class session a 75% reimbursement will be dispersed and ‘W’ (for withdraw) assigned and before the 4th class a 50% reimbursement and a ‘W’ assigned.
