People driving under the influence of anything, but especially alcohol, is incredibly dangerous, very much illegal, and just plain selfish. Alcohol impairs your eyesight, your self control mechanisms, and most importantly, it impairs your judgement and thought processes. When a person makes the decision to get behind the wheel after they've been drinking, or even after one drink, they are deciding to drive unsafely and endanger the lives of themselves and others. It isn't that hard of a decision to ask someone else to drive, call an uber, or get a taxi. Worst case scenario, the person can find someone they know close by or a nearby hotel and spend the night. Any of these options, while more expensive, are far better than taking the risk of driving impaired, and the costs are far lower than the actual costs of causing an accident, or even taking someone's life. …show more content…

Not only is your life affected when your license is revoked and you can no longer drive, you can also be put in jail and charged a hefty fine. More importantly, the lives of the families of the victims are affected, as they lost a loved one to something they had no control over. Many families don't even have the chance to say goodbye to their children, siblings, or spouses before their lives are carelessly taken away by someone too selfish to realise the danger they're putting themselves and others in. Just because a person does not drink and drive themselves, doesn't mean they cannot be affected by this poor choice made by someone else. Unfortunately, this is how the world works, and unless there is some way we can completely stop everyone from making that decision, we can't stop it
