Digital Health and Wellness is one of the nine elements of digital citizenship. Education in digital health and wellness should be given to avoid physical and psychological issues. Digital Citizenship are the norms of appropriate, responsible behavior regarding technology use (Ribble, M., 2017). Being a digital citizen means being a good citizen in the digital world where we learn to apply our manners and rules just like in the real world. Digital health and wellness refers to the physical and psychological well-being in a digital technology world. This includes: picking the right mouse and keyboard, which will prevent arthritis. Arthritis can develop from constant typing and clicking. It is also important to sit up straight in the chair by placing your back flat against the back of the chair and your feet on the ground. This will prevent strain our backs. For eye safety, to help ease eye strain, it is important to make sure to use good lighting, maintain a safe distance from the screen, and not staring at the screen for long periods of time. Also, you should not sit too close or stare too long at the computer (Heiting,OD & Wan, OD, 2018). To avoid repetitive stress syndrome and carpal tunnel syndrome, people can be educated in stretching at their workstations. People should take breaks from working on their computers by changing their tasks. They can break up long typing tasks by stretching or by changing positions. Looking away from the screen and focusing on an object that is far off, can be done time to time. If you try stretches, hold them for at least 10 to 20 seconds, and you should never feel pain. Internet addiction has become an international problem that is now being recognized as a serious problem. Internet addiction can cause excessive fatigue or loss of sleep, academic problems, withdrawal from friends and family, and behavioral problems in those who suffer from it (What is Internet Addiction, 2016) (ISTE, 2017). Adapting to new technology can be difficult for parents and teachers, however, there are many ways in which parents and teachers can help students find the balance between the digital world and the real world. A great idea for Physical Education teachers, provided by EdTechDigest, is to use a digital fitness-tracking tool, such as a Fitbit or GPS distance tracker. The fitness tracker can be used to analyze the correlation between the individual’s physical well-being online and offline. As stated before, the internet is here to stay and one of the best ways to adapt to this technology is to embrace it so that parents and teachers can find new ways to incorporate it into the daily life of their students and children.
