Crusader Shield Explanation My crusader shield has four sections that represent my family, home, allegiance, and religion if I were a Crusader. In the top left of my shield is a leopard which represents my family. I used a leopard because leopards show agility and I always thought of my family as being agile when it comes to going into certain things. This leopard is has a pink and purple coat because it shows that my family can be very different from other families. I also thought that a purple and pink leopard would look pretty cool. In the bottom left section of my shield there is a picture of myself. This corner shows my allegiance but I was not too sure who I should put so I drew a picture
The First Crusade is often cited as one of the most damnable consequences of religious fanaticism. A careful inspection of the circumstances and outcomes, however, will reveal a resultant political restructuring of Europe under the banner of Christendom. The purpose of this investigation is to investigate Pope Urban II’s motives in initiating the First Crusade, with a particular focus on the consolidation of the Western Church’s influence in Europe. Among the primary sources that will be consulted are the letter sent by Patriach Alexios of Constantinople to Urban, and an account of Urban’s speech at Clermont. Relevant excerpts from both of these primary sources, as well as contextual evidence and a wide array of historiography, will be taken
During the middle ages there were different types of warriors around the world. Two of those prestigious warrior groups were the knights and samurai. Knights were European warriors while samurai were the warriors of Japan. Although they both had similarities and differences, as well as advantages and disadvantages, one group had the upper hand. That group would be the knights and it shows in their weapons, training, and armor. All of those are expressed within the DBQ evidence packet.
The First color in the wheel is Red it represents Fire, passion and time of fertility, It is also known as the “South”. The reason why I put an actual glass castle on the cover is because the main character Jeannette Walls, her father promises his children that one day they will build their own glass castle. The castle symbolizes their future and the Walls family way of life. After reading the book you begin to think of the castle as irrational and transparent. The reason why it’s made out of glass is because it’s not safe. Glass is know to break easily and to be fragile, kind of like their family. The goat is on there because they welcomed all sorts of animals into their house such as buzzards, lizards, and/or cockroaches. It proves that they live in filth and lack money. I drew painting supplies because their mother was a painter, writer, and a mother who
Warfare is defined as military operations between enemies. The second definition is an activity undertaken by one country to weaken or destroy another (The Merriam Webster Dictionary). In Beowulf, warfare is extremely important for it is a way for a man to prove his strength and courage against others. War is also to protect others, and in Beowulf, the anonymous author seems to be rooting for, rather than against, warfare due to the many battles that Beowulf encounters.
Richard the Lionheart’s shield is very famous. Its main aspect is the three lions. The lion has been a symbol of England since the 11th century during the rule of the Normans. It was featured on early versions of the English Coat of Arms. During this time period, only one lion was accompanied on a red background that symbolized a red battlefield. About a hundred years later King Richard I, known as Richard the Lionheart, ruled the throne, and during his reign he added two golden lions to the crest. He chose a shield of three lions to represent the three different areas, England, Normandy and Aquitaine.
The Lion symbolises royalty, the books symbolise wisdom and the golden fur and mane of the lion symbolises power (because gold is usually worn by rich people).
The Spanish flag features three horizontal bands of red at the top, yellow at the centre and red at the bottom. The yellow colour on the flag is a symbol of generosity while red is the symbol of bravery, strength and valour. The coat of arms on the Spanish flag includes the royal seal framed by the Pillars of Hercules that represent Ceuta and Gibraltar on either side of the eastern end of the Strait of Gibraltar.
I am one of the geats. My father is Wexstan and I’m a good soldier. I’m here knew once as my king went down I had to do something. I was watching Beowulf suffering and I knew he needed help. He wasn’t going to be able to do this one on is own. I went for it; drew my sword and raised my shield for my king. My heart racing and knowing this could be the end, but I had a thought. I remember how we all said, “We would give up anything to defend Beowulf.” I knew he chose us men for a reason and knew someone would be there for him when he needed it the most. I would rather die knowing I tried rather than knowing I could've done something.
A Coat of Arms was used in medieval times by knights and families to represent their past and how they live. They were drawn using many different colors, shapes, and symbols that hold meaning and describe different personalities. They had different parts like the footer which holds the motto and name banner which holds your family's last name. Every piece has a different meaning and explains who you are. For example, silver and white mean peace and sincerity and a dog means loyalty. In my Coat of Arms, I used symbols and colors to represent who I am.
The wood has been cut into planks, 20 inches in the center, and strapped together with leather. It is sanded all around, making a perfectly circular shape. In the center is a forged iron plate from my old shield, still strong even after the incident this morning. Around the plate is an ancient Celtic Knot of my ancestors, which symbolizes the infinite cycle of life that God created. Around the outside there is a painted brown ring that symbolizes the earth and soil. In the center around the iron plate it is painted blue. The deep blue color symbolizes the waters of life. I admire my newly crafted shield and delight in the perfect shape the shield
In this essay, I will uncover the countless insights that can be learned about the characters in Beowulf, as well as the society as a whole, based on the weapons the characters choose to use in battle. During the Anglo-Saxon time, roughly between 400 and 1066, swords were considered the most precious weapon someone could own. Although it is not certain who wrote Beowulf, and when, many people believe it was composed in the middle to end of the Anglo-Saxon period. Analyzing the different weapons, and significance of each, in Beowulf, and comparing them to the weaponry at the time, provides the readers with a great deal of insight into the society during this period. The use of weapons in Beowulf not only provides the readers with insight into
One thing I put on my family crest is a dog. When people think of dogs they think of them being a smart animal.I chose this because I am intelligent, and the rest of my family is intelligent.Dogs are also a friendly animal, and I have one.Dogs a top two favorite animal for me.That is why I chose a dog to go on my family crest.
The colors I chose on my coat of arms are silver/white, green, purple, yellow, and red. Silver or white means that your family has peace and sincerity. I try my best to make everything peaceful and I’m always sincere even when others are not. Green means there is hope, joy, and sometimes loyalty in your family.
To begin family shields are relevant because their worth in the Medieval time period. As stated in Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia “ Coat of arms were borne by families, corporations, guilds, religious houses, inns of court, colleges, boroughs, cities and Kingdoms” ("Encyclopedia: Heraldry." Heraldry. N.p., n.d. Web. 25 Mar. 2014. .). This shows that in medieval times everyone bore some kind of crest. It has been recorded that family shield are used as images and emblems of status or rank. It is obvious that family shields are important, but they can be used for representation as well.
