As the semester is coming to an end, it means that I am almost done with my first-year at San Jose State University. As a first-year student, I had to make many important decisions, since college is all a part of adulting. In retrospect, I have come to the conclusion that I am an indecisive person. I found that I often communicated with my family and friends whenever I had trouble making a decision. For this reason, I chose to enroll in COMM 41, Critical Decision Making, to enhance my decision-making skills; this course has given me insight on what it means to become a good leader and to make important decisions. More specifically, a conflict that arose several times this school year is whether I should commute from home or live near campus. This conflict first came into consideration during my senior year of high school, around mid-April of 2017. Factors that made me consider commuting include, the increase in rent and the fact that I will eventually have to commute. I thought that it would be best for me to save money and commute early, as I would have to know how to drive eventually. Without a doubt, I initiated a conversation with my family regarding this conflict. They were set on convincing me to live in San Jose for another year. Their reasons include: I have not practiced driving since I have gotten my license, commuting is exhausting, and it is safer and more convenient if I lived near campus. As much as they wanted me to live in San Jose for another year, I thought otherwise. I wanted to save my parents money, as they have already spent a lot on my tuition and rent this school year. I understood the pros and cons of both, living near campus and commuting; I also understood that ultimately, it was something that I had to ponder upon and decide for
