INTRODUCTION Pepping et al, (2013) define self-esteem as evaluation of an individual to his/her self-worth. Today makeup/cosmetics has been the source of women self-esteem as they believe that it enhances physical attractiveness (Cash et al, 1983).

Women use a lot of means to improve their looks. Cosmetics has been a resource to enhance physical beauty of an individual. Graham et al, (1981) had an experiment on how cosmetics contributes women physical attractiveness. The results found that women who wore makeup are seen to be physically attractive thus, it contribute in increasing women self-esteem. Cosmetics has a number of ways to improve one’s facial appearance. Jones et al, (2016) reported reasons to why women use variety of cosmetics. Women used cosmetics to cover anxiety from facial appearance, to conform social norms about the standards of beauty and to appear more pleasing to the people. It has been well documented on how physical attractiveness brought by applying cosmetics correlates on having a good personality. However, Jones et al (2016) show that there is a limit to how should women put their makeup. The lighter the makeup the attractive the person is while the greater she put into the less attractive she perceive.
