The church has a variety of liturgical seasons. During these seasons, there are different colors to represent that season or a feast celebrated in that season. These colors represent the different blessings God gives to the Church. The colors can have different meanings in different cultures or countries. For instance, the color white in the Church means purity, light, innocence, or joy. It is used during the seasons of Easter and Christmas. It is also used during nuptial masses or weddings. Conversely, in China, white means death and mourning. In China, white watches, cell phones, or even clothes are popular to wear. White also symbolizes purity, perfection, and innocence in the American Flag.

In China, the color red represents fortune and good luck. In the Catholic Church red represents the blood of Jesus, fire, and passion. Red is worn on certain days in the Church such as Palm Sunday, Good Friday, Pentecost and the celebration of martyred saints. This color is also used for the Feast of the Lord’s passion.
