And the other calls for justice within the generations. The focus of this essay is on the second meaning of “climate justice”. Compared to the North, the South is more vulnerable to the negative impact of global warming. The global warming will result in the melting of glaciers and, in turn, cause the rise of the sea level while at the same time will cause droughts, storms and flood. According to the IPCC fifth assessment report on climate change (2014), “People who are socially, economically, culturally, politically, institutionally or otherwise marginalized are especially vulnerable to climate change and also to some adaptation and mitigation responses.” The difference of vulnerability will have some influences on the cooperation of North-South cooperation. Some argue that since the developed world caused the irreversible climate change in the first place and the South suffers the majority of the negative impacts, the South would be unwilling to carry the burden of solving environmental problems, as it should be the responsibility of the North to improve the situation and make compensation . Foreseeing the ill impact of climate change on the lives of the future generation, the North calls for immediate action to slow down the speed towards serious global warming. However, considering those greenhouse gas emissions as a byproduct of development, the South calls for enough emission right to sustain their development.
