Throughout the earth, there is an ongoing problem that involves a consequential change in the earth’s long term atmospheric conditions. The assessment of variation in temperature, precipitation, wind, snow cover, sea levels rising, etc. show the ongoing problem known as climate change (Government of Canada – What is climate change?, 2015). To cause such a significant shift in the earth’s atmospheric conditions, human activities and natural occurrences come into play. Scientists have generally agreed that human activities are one of the reasons that the earth’s climate is altering (Government of Canada – Climate change and public health fact sheets, 2015.) Consequently, day to day human activities such as the combustion of fossil fuels …show more content…

It is an arrangement formed between the United Nations, which encourages the members to address the issue of climate change in which they must cut down on emitting gases. Since developed countries have always been involved with industrial and manufactural activity, the members have come to realize that developed countries are held accountable for the large amounts of greenhouse gases emitted into the air (United Nations – Kyoto Protocol, 2014). Developed nations are held more accountable for their actions, they are the ones who must limit their yearly greenhouse gas emission to lower than 1990 levels the most. The Kyoto Protocol ensures that all countries must aim at a target through national measures. However, Canada decided in 2011 to drop out from the fight against climate change and save around 14 billion dollars because Canada was lacking to aim for its targets. On the contrary, the Kyoto Protocol still promoted green investment, provided people with employment, as well as cutting energy bills. The Kyoto Protocol is a significant method in limiting greenhouse gas emissions and fighting climate …show more content…

There are solutions to this problem of climate change that begin with the governments, communities and even just one individual. In order to prevent making the conditions of the earth’s climate worse, the Canadian government has implemented carbon tax in their country. It is a way to reinforce the idea of making environment friendly choices that are healthy for the environment and for future generations if they wish to preserve the earth. When companies or any type of building produce carbon or greenhouse gases, there will be a fee they must pay for polluting the air. This puts a dent in their pockets as a reminder of the actual prices they would have to pay for their entire world caused by greenhouse gas emissions and the expensive part they play in our climate to change. As a world leader, Canada is putting their best foot forward to solve the problem of climate change to reduce pollution with carbon tax. Furthermore, communities have also decided to respond to the impacts climate change has caused. As studies have shown, transportation has caused about a quarter of the world’s cause of greenhouse gas emissions. In order to decrease this number, communities should come together and save gas and even their cash. To get to their locations they could aim to travel without the use of greenhouse gases such as walking, biking, taking the bus, or
