Child Soldiers are all over and have been widely discussed.They have caused some the worst crimes but under some circumstances where they had no choice. These children should be given amnesty depending if the child soldiers can be rehabilitated and learn what they did was horrible, wrong, and they wouldn’t kill again. Not all can be given amnesty but at least we can give a few children a chance to live a life without the drugs, killings, and abuse. These children are given no choice when it comes to signing up. Some kids are being taught about guns and other dangerous weapons just at the age of three. Others are being forced to fight or die. Is it wrong to want to live? That if we let them go then does it mean that it’s alright they killed? No, it doesn’t mean what they did was okay but that doesn’t mean that they should be sent to jail and never know what it’s like to live without the killing. In order to give them a second chance we should have them be rehabilitated. “...many believe...that rehabilitation should be the aim not the punishment...prosecution can be selective and can be based upon lack of evidence. Rehabilitation programs are comprehensive and have been proven successful”. There are children who won’t be changed by rehabilitation. Some children volunteered and knew exactly what they’re doing. They shouldn’t be given amnesty. But some children do volunteer and don’t know what they’re signing up for. “Children are forced by the commanders through false promises, drugs, and things which you can’t even imagine, to kill innocent civilians, other children and even their own families”. The children have already been put through the worst. To survive and immediately be sent to jail for the rest of their lives. That sounds cruel.
