In The Bean Trees many characters have changed, because they faced their fear of trying new things. For example, in chapter 1, Taylor tries to be a mom when she is given Turtle. In chapter 4, Lou Ann tries to be a single mom when her husband Angel walks out on her. In chapter 1, Turtle is given a new mom. In chapter 14, Estevan and Esperanza try to help Taylor by going to help find Turtle’s relatives. All of these characters have changed because of these events. Taylor is now a mom and has a different view on life, Lou Ann is stronger now. Turtle has also changed, Turtle now trusts Taylor.
