Cells are the building blocks of your body. Normally cells grow, divide, and die. Cancer begins when a normal cell mutates and is un able to repair itself. The damaged cell then keeps multiplying and creates a tumor. A malignant tumor is cancerous. When they grow they can harm tissues and organs. Parts of malignant tumors can also break off and spread to other parts of the body. This is called Metastasis. Like cancer, genocide starts small. It starts with one man developing intense hatred towards another man and then eventually leads to the killing of millions.
I've always been intrigued by foreign affairs, the Genocide of the Rohingya is not something most people are informed about. Most people don't really know how corrupt our world is.

Michael Safi, a South Asian correspondent for the Guardian magazine explains Myanmar’s population is predominately Buddhist and there is widespread hatred for the Rohingya. Buddhist nationalists, have operated along Islamophobic campaign calling for them to be pushed out of the country. Hello everyone. Today for my speaking assignment, I will be speaking to you all about the mitochondrion because I don’t know what else to talk about. For the first part, I am just going to summarize what I know and won’t be going in depth with it as much. Anyways, as most people know, the mitochondrion is the powerhouse of the cell. Mitochondrion is singular while the plural version is mitochondria, which is the one people tend to say and it’s not wrong either way. It is an organelle found in most eukaryotic cells. In 1890, it was discovered by German pathologist Richard Altmann and was called “bioblast” at the time. Cancer is the term used to describe a group of diseases consisting of hundreds of ailments and although there exists so many different types of cancer, they all begin in a similar way. The body is made up of over a trillion cells, and cancer is the uncontrolled growth of malfunctioning cells in the body (Dawson, 1996). “Normal body cells grow, divide, and die in an orderly fashion. During the early years of a person’s life, normal cells divide faster to allow the person to grow. After the person becomes an adult, most cells divide only to replace worn-out or dying cells or to repair injuries” (American Cancer Society, 2012).

Cancer starts when cells in a part of the body start to grow out of control. Cancer cell growth is different from normal cell growth. Instead of dying, cancer cells continue to grow and form new, abnormal cells. Cancer cells can also invade (grow into) other tissues, something that normal cells cannot do. Growing out of control and invading other tissues are what makes a cell a cancer cell. Cells become cancer cells because of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) damage. DNA is in every cell and it directs all the cell’s actions. In a normal cell, when DNA gets damaged the cell either repairs the damage or the cell dies. In cancer cells, the damaged DNA is not repaired, and the cell doesn’t die like it should. Instead, the cell goes on making new cells that the body doesn’t need. These new cells all have the same abnormal DNA as the first cell does.
Myanmar (Burma) is located west of China and bordered by the Bay of Bengal. The main culture living there is the Burmese. The Burmese are considered Buddhist until later on when some became Christians. This first created an issue was in 1962 when the military did not think it was right for any religion, except for Buddhist, to be in Burma (World Without Genocide 1). The government was soon informed about it but didn’t do anything to stop it. They actually encouraged it. Instead of kicking people out or getting them to move, the military would kill of non-Buddhist citizens (World Without Genocide 1). This is considered a religious genocide because the victims are people of a certain religion. The two main groups that are targeted right now are the Karen and non-Buddhist Burmese. Instead of forcing people out, the Burmese military would destroy homes, villages, and burn people alive (Rally against Genocide of Muslims in Myanmar 1). Obviously not many other places think that this is okay. The United States and the European Union were two groups who tried to help stop the conflict. Normal cells divide in a regulated way to generate new cells that are needed to keep the body healthy. Cancer cells are when the normal cell division process goes awry. When this happens cells don’t die like they’re supposed to, and new cells are produced when the body doesn’t need them. When cancer cells form a lump of tissue it’s called a tumor. There are two types of tumors, malignant, and benign. A benign tumor isn’t cancerous, and can often be removed, and in most cases, they don’t come back. Benign tumors do not spread to other parts of the body like malignant tumors. Malignant tumors are cancerous. The cells within the malignant tumor spread from one part of the body to another and also invade nearby tissue which is called metastasis.

However, if something goes wrong, there may be too many new cells when the body only needs a few of them, and the body can’t get rid of old cells, it builds up a mass of tissue called tumor. This type of tumors will invade organs and tissues around them, travel through blood vessels or lymph vessels, attach to other tissues and destroy them.
