1. What is the name of the temple that you usually attend?
The temple that I attend is Swaminarayan Temple. Also, Justin its located in Clifton, New Jersey around five minutes from my house.
2. What does your temple look like in the outside and inside?
It looks like regular building, built like a usual temple peach color on the outside and a variety of different colors in the inside.
3. Were you born in the Hinduism religion? If not, how did you find your self-accepting this faith?
Yes, great question let me see I was born in the Hinduism religion and still follow it due to my parents and past generations. I can say that I truly believe in my religion because it comes within me personal belief it has the right cultural inspiration.

I wanted to tell you that in my house we have something called a puja room, where is located in a special room and basically here we have portraits and idols of the gods which we pray to. Over here we basically can say we pray and meditate to the gods. This is pretty interesting because unlike most religion we have this room to worship and pray for the family and those in need. Also, one main reason we don’t move is because the way we have everything set up in the house and the room was built differently and took time because we have mirrors, seats to kneel down and paintings on the wall that represent our gods. My parents grew up in India and as they came over here to the United States to have a better living and make me. I usually don’t share this with no one, but they always prayed to a special god named Ganapati. Weird name you may ask, but this god was the one that my parents always honor because it’s the remover of obstacles. They believed that if they always prayed to this god they will eventually make it to America and obtain their needs. We give this god thanks everyday for giving us a great and wonderful family with loving hearts and we continue to love and care for each other. Basically, what I’m trying to tell you are that we believe in our religion and pray to a loving god like Ganapati, which helped us live a happy life together
1.) Intro: I decided to focus my Religious Ethnography on a friend whom I recently have become close with. Adhita Sahai is my friend’s name, which she later told me her first name meant “scholar.” I choose to observe and interview Adhita, after she invited me to her home after hearing about my assignment. I was very humbled that she was open to this, because not only was it a great opportunity for this paper, but it also helped me get to know Adhita better. I took a rather general approach to the religious questions that I proposed to the Sahai family because I didn’t want to push to deep, I could tell Hinduism is extremely important to this family. Because this family does not attend a religious site where they worship, I instead listened to how they do this at home as a family instead.

The displayed colored rendering of the Temple of Music is from the pages of Pan American Exposition: Buffalo 1901, a guidebook to the Buffalo Fair. With bright colors, the picture accurately captures the image of the Temple and its surrounding buildings. The Temple, designed by August C. Esenwein, could hold 2,200 people. On the main stage, a gigantic pipe organ was installed for concerts. On the outside the Temple was painted in a mixture of colors, mostly pastels, ranging from blue-green to scarlet. Along with the main "Pan-American" architectural mode of the Fair, it was built in the Spanish Revival style, and sported a central, brightly colored, octagonal dome that rested on a square base. Facades had intricate moldings that covered the outside of the Temple, from angels playing instruments to the large "MVSIC" sign in Roman characters over the main entrance. The Temple of Music fulfilled several practical and symbolic functions. It acted as a general reception hall and place to commemorate special occasions....
The actual building itself appears similar to a castle. The architecture had royal features due to the triangular points on the top of the building. There were three open doors; one big main entrance in front, two small side doors, and all the guests entered through the main entrance. Once I walked in, a big gold Buddha was centered in the back surrounding multiple iconic religious statues. There seemed to be about a hundred religious statues highly dazzled in silver or good.

Without a religion, they would not believe in an all-mighty ruler, or in reincarnation. Hindus also believed in karma, which means the good and bad actions that have an effect on the soul, and dharma, or spiritual duties one must follow. As you can see, beliefs were greatly influenced by religion.

BAPS or Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Sanstha is a religious organization within the practices of hinduism. Formally established in the early twentieth century, BAPS preaches hindu spirituality along with cultural and social domains of the religion. The organization consists of both volunteers and followers. They are located all over the states. Last week I visited a BAPS Hindu Temple located near me, off Jefferson Avenue. The exterior of the temple was nothing special, as it resembled the structure of a modern day supermarket. However, inside the temple was magnificent. The first thing I noticed, other than the gigantic shoe shelves, was the golden lining hanging from the top of the walls. Samuel Seium. I attended a Sikh temple that is located outside of Baltimore, Maryland with a friend who is Sikh and commonly attends the services. The temple was the size of a regular sized church and appeared to have a common Sikh temple design. Before entering the temple, it is customary to take off your shoes. My friend and I attended this event on a Sundays. Although the temple is open seven days a week, in America it is common for Sunday to be the busiest day at the temple because that is when the major religious group in this country attends their services so the Sikhs at this temple do the same. Within indigenous communities, religion, social behavior, art, and music are so intertwined that their religion is a significant part of their culture and virtually inseparable from it. I decided to visit a Hindu temple because the Hindu religion was the religion that I knew the least about and was interested in. This assignment gave me an opportunity to learn more about this religion and what their worship services and rituals were like. The temple that I went to was called BAPS Shri Swaminaryan Mandir and it was located in Lilburn. As soon as I walked in, I was amazed by the beautiful architectural design of this Temple. It seemed like it took a lot of hard work and dedication to make the place what it is now. While I was at the temple, I watched the Hindus perform an ancient Vedic ritual called the Abhishek, a ritual bathing to honor the murti of their God.
Observations at the Temple I arrived at the Hindu Temple of San Antonio (HTSA) before the ceremonies in the main hall typically begin, so I had the chance to walk around the temple prior to the arrival of the devotees. I was hesitant at first when approaching the temple because I was not very familiar with Hindu worship services. However, my experiences visiting Radha Madhav Dham in Austin, in order to celebrate Holi with some of my close Hindu friends, gave me an idea of what customs I should follow. This included taking off my shoes before entering, and sitting on the floor in the main part of the temple to wait for the service to begin.
