Have you read or watched “Beowulf?” The textbook version and the movie are different in many ways, but are also similar. There are a lot of action, sad, and joyful scenes involved in both. “Beowulf” contains a bad guy and a good guy, just like any other movie/book does. It is very interesting and you will not have to fight to stay focused because your attention definitely will be kept. The differences between the book and the movie are actions such as suicide, attacks, and seduction. Grendel, a descendant of Cain, attacks the Danes while they are awake in the movie, but in the book he attacks them while they are sleeping. Hrothgar blamed himself for all of the problems and deaths that were caused by Grendel, being that he had an affair and Grendel was his son. Hrothgar committed suicide, leaving everything to Beowulf who was now king of the Herot. Beowulf was appreciated by Hrothgar for traveling to the Herot just because he had heard about Grendel terrorizing the Danes. He knew that Beowulf was dependable and was rewarding him for relieving everyone by killing Grendel and his mother, even though he knew that Beowulf was not telling the truth about killing her. Beowulf was also known as the strongest man alive, so it would be a good look to have him as king and protecting the Herot. That is to say, “Beowulf”, has many differences between the text book version and the movie. There are also some similar things that happened in the text book version and in the movie. The differences between them both would be things such as suicide, attacks, and seduction. Being able to decipher between these differences is what makes “Beowulf”, interesting to see. It keeps you wondering why this happened in the text book, but not in the movie or vice versa.
