Benjamin Franklin Benjamin Franklin lived to be 84 years old. This in not more typical for a person of the late 18th century to live like a person of the 21st century. Back then their life expectancy was about 36 years old, but Franklin constantly lived for the future. In an era when wealth came primarily from birth or marriage, agriculture, the sea or was bestowed by the Crown, Franklin was able to put together an integrated network of urban businesses using a strategy that seems as “21st century” as any internet startup. He was a very interesting person that lived ahead of his time. Franklin has been known for many accomplishments. Benjamin Franklin pioneered the spirit of self-help in America. He persuaded the English to repeal the famous Stamp Act. He also convinced the French to aid in the American Revolution. Benjamin Franklin helped draft both the Declaration of Independence and the American Constitution. His written work is and can still be used today to help our modern society.
