Over the years, many schools have implemented after school sports for their students. Today, giving students this opportunity to participate in sports has become more important than ever. Therefore, schools should keep after school sports to improve social skills, help students do better in school, and encourage life long fitness.
However, some people may argue that schools should not keep after school sports. A SCOPE article, “Should Your School Get Rid of Sports” states, “that by suspending sports, the district could save $150,000 in one year.” (Ripley 10) This might seem like a lot of money, however, it is important for our students’ well being and future. Actually, a school could fundraise for this important school activity. Obviously, a school should offer after school sports.
Tim O’Shei’s article,”No! Sports Are More Important Than Ever” states that,”These skills will serve you in many areas in your life, from your relationships with your friends, to your future jobs.”(SCOPE Jan 2014) Mr. O’Shei also wrote that,”to be a good team player, you need to be reliable, hard working, disciplined and willing to share the glory.” These are lifelong skills that not only give you pride in your school, but will continue for a lifetime.
